Most people who find a spider in their bedroom quickly try to get rid of it. But new research shows that one arachnid might actually be best kept by your bedside. A single bite from the Brazilian wandering spider has been shown to have side-effects including four-hour long erections. The eight-legged creature - also known as the armed spider, banana spider or Phoneutria nigriventer - is native to South and Central America. Scientists at the Medical College of Georgia believe the species contains a possible breakthrough for erectile dysfunction. Dr Kenia Nunes, a physiologist at the college, said: ‘The venom of the Phoneutria nigriventer spider is a very rich mixture of several molecules. ‘These molecules are called toxins, and then we have various toxins in this venom with different activity. ‘Because of this, when a human is bitten by this spider, we can observe many different symptoms including priapism, a condition in which the penis is continually erect.'

Four armed robbers who specialize in robbing with police uniforms have been arrested and paraded by the Lagos state Police command. The four men named Julius George, Samuel Orgah, Lucky Oliseh and Lucky  Friday  were arrested by the police force at the Ile Zik area on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on the 22nd of June Punch reports. From their confessions, it was gathered that other operations carried out by the gang included robbing a trailer load of rice at Oju-Elegba area worth N4.5m and a tanker carrying engine oil worth N11m. A 16 year old Texas girl named Jada (pictured left) has spoken out for the first time after photos of her unconscious naked body went viral online after she was drugged and raped at a party with her fellow high-schoolers. A 17-year-old girl from Turkey who stands at 7ft tall has been officially declared the world's tallest female teenager. Rumeysa Gelgi who has a standing height of 213.6 cm (7ft 0.09 in), received the Guinness World Record award in a special presentation in her hometown of Safranbolu, Karabük. Rumeysa is an 11th grade high school student and lives at home with her parents and older siblings, who are all ‘normal’ height. Her height is caused by a condition called Weaver Syndrome - a rare genetic disorder that causes rapid growth. In addition to her height, Rumeysa’s hands have grown measure 24.5 cm and feet 30.5 cm - the equivalent of a 12 in men's shoe sizes. Her size causes her mobility problems, and she has a custom-built wheelchair and walking frame to help her get around.  Rumeysa's shoes are also custom made in America for her. The Senate, on Thursday, unanimously rejected the recommendation of its Committee on Finance, which asked the Federal Government to remove the   subsidy on petroleum products. “If subsidy has to be removed, there must be public enlightenment and education so that facts would be made available to the people and then public opinion at the end of the day will count. “If we sit here now and said remove subsidy, I think those who are benefitting from subsidy are very powerful and tomorrow they would influence media report and twist it to create an impression that the Senate is anti-people,” President of the Senate said in his remarks after the Senate had rejected the proposal for subsidy removal. The finance committee had recommended the removal of subsidy on fuel because of the alleged misapplication of the billions of dollars being voted annually for that purpose. THE National Conference was, yesterday, thrown into confusion as moves to reach a compromise on recommendations ended in deadlock sparking off chaos at the plenary session. The rowdy situation forced the house to adjourn abruptly till Monday to prevent the exchanges from degenerating to fisticuffs.
