Image
A major security breach was recorded at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in the early hours of Wednesday, August 16, 2017, as unknown gunmen attacked the office located at Wuse Zone 7, Abuja. The group of heavily armed bandits invaded the office at about 05.00 hours and began shooting into the premises, damaging vehicles parked in the premises in the process. However, the attack was repelled by guards on duty. The hoodlums escaped in a getaway vehicle but not without leaving a message; a white envelope dropped by the fleeing attackers was found to contain a death threat addressed to Ishaku Sharu, a senior investigator with the Commission. Ishaku who heads the Foreign Exchange Malpractices Fraud Section is in charge of corruption investigation involving several politically exposed persons and retired military brass hats. The attack on the Zone 7 office which houses the Commission’s AMCON Desk, Procurement Fraud and Foreign Exchange M

Your Excellency Dr Jonathan, this is the economy you left behind, in case you have forgotten. - Garba Shehu

Y our Excellency Dr Jonathan, this is the economy you left behind, in case you have forgotten. With due respects to the former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, these are the facts about the economy you left behind, in case you have forgotten. I hope this will help to erase the wrong statement credited to you at your party, the PDP Convention at the Eagle Square last weekend that you handed to President Buhari a robustly healthy economy. To the same extent, this should also help to erase yet another false statement by Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, the Caretaker Chairman of the party, to the effect that under the previous administration there was money but now things are very hard. Let me start by reasserting an obvious statement, which is that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration was handed an economy ravaged by years of mismanagement and corruption. It is understandable that Dr Jonathon kept his comments short, because a cursory look at any sector

I t just got real with outspoken on-air personality, Daddy Freeze, who is ready to start officiating marriages in Christ. Yes, he intends to start getting people married. Recall that he had replied someone who confronted him on his relationship status and advised that he make the relationship legitimate, that is, get married. ‘From this day onwards, I will begin officiating ‘marriages in Christ’ for citizens of the #FreeNation and anyone else who wishes to be married in Christ, without the bondage of the legal system or the burden of tradition and religion,’ he wrote. According to Freeze, all that’s required is two consenting adults, him praying over the intending couple, a party afterwards which would cater to at least 10 people, as well as alcoholic wine which, like the party, he said is a must. Freeze added, ‘It might take a while for people to catch on, but trust me, very soon, they will all realize that being ‘married in Christ’ is all we really need and rel

Image
N ews website, Saharareporters, has taken steps to upturn the judgment of a Kwara State High Court which awarded N4billion damages to the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, in a controversial libel suit. Justice Sikiru Adeyinka Oyinloye gave the judgment against the news platform and its founder, Omoyele Sowore, on June 28. SaharaReporters has described the judgment as fraudulent and dodgy. The news website has now mounted a strong challenge to the court decision, which it said “contains a plethora of curiosities”. In the suit (No. KWS/23/2017), Mr. Saraki had claimed that he was defamed in several reports and opinion articles published on SaharaReporters between September and December 2015. In a motion on notice filed by SaharaReporters’ lawyers, Falana & Falana Chambers, the website and its founder are seeking an order extending the time within which they may apply to set aside the entire proceedings in the suit and the court judgment.
