P resident Muhammadu Buhari says Nigeria is safe for business, urging foreign investors to come to the country and invest. Fielding questions at the business forum of the Commonwealth Head of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2018) in Westminster, the president said Shell Group is preparing to invest $15 billion in Nigeria. “On security, certainly, both in the northeast and in the southsouth, there has been an improvement in the security of the country,” he said. “This morning, before I came here, I saw Shell Group. T he house of representatives has dropped the bill seeking to amend the electoral act. The amendment sought to change the sequence of the election in a way that the presidential election comes last, after the state assemblies/national assembly and governorship elections. The lower legislative chamber dropped the bill during plenary on Wednesday after Edward Pwajok, a Plateau lawmaker, who sponsored the bill, said he was withdrawing it. P resident Muhammadu Buhari says many Nigerian youths just want to sit down and do nothing, banking on the notion that Nigerian is an oil-rich nation. Speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum in Westminster on Wednesday, the president said a lot of Nigerian youths have not been to school and they want everything free. “About the economy, we have a very young population, our population is estimated conservatively to be 180 million. S enator Omo-Agege who led hoodlums to cart away the mace has according to reports, been arrested by the Police. Omo-Agege, suspended last week for 90 days by the Senate was arrested by the FCT Police at 1:50 p.m while he crept into the chambers to join in the plenary. The Senate had gotten another mace as they continued plenary after a turbulent few hours of dramatic proceedings. In a statement released by the Spokesman of the Senate, Sabi Abdullahi, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and DG, SSS, Lawan Daura were ordered to recover the mace in the next 24 hours.

S ome hoodlums have reportedly invaded the Senate during a seating on Wednesday and did away with the mace. The hoodlums, unknown, got into the floor of the house and caused a stir in the seating chaired by Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekwweremadu who is deputising for Senate President, Bukola Saraki who is on a trip to the U.S on a spring meeting with the World Bank and IMF. The mace is the Parliament’s symbol of authority.
