Manchester City 's  Yaya Toure  has been named the African Player of the Year 2014 by the Confederation of African Football at an awards ceremony held in Lagos on Thursday evening.  The Ivoirian won the title for a fourth straight time beating off competition from local favourite Vincent Enyeama and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the title.  In the ceremony, Nigeria produced the African Women Player award, Africa Youth Player of the Year as well as the National Team of the Year. President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday stated that the estranged leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) Henry Okah was paid to assassinate him when he masterminded bomb attacks within the premises where Nigeria was celebrating its 50 years independence anniversary. 25 year old Familola Ayodeji (pictured above) has been arrested by the Ekiti state Police command for raping an 85 year old great grandmother on December 25th 2014. According to police report, Familola a resident of No. 17, Oke Ido Street, Ido-Ekiti sneaked into the great grand mother's room, bolted the door and forcefully had sex with her. He initially went into hiding after the act but was caught after a widespread manhunt. Medical examination conducted on the aged woman showed she was raped. Familola is expected to appear in court soon.

The police officer whose terrifying execution by two masked gunmen was caught on camera in Paris yesterday January 7th, has been identified as  Ahmed Merabet, a married 42-year-old Muslim. He was a cycle police officer who was assigned to the Paris neighbourhood where Charlie Hebdo’s office is located. According to PM News , the woman, Ifunanya Igwebuike was supposed to get married to Ekene Uzoigwe but refused to show up to the wedding on Saturday, 3 January, 2015.
