iCampus have reported that Management of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos State, recently expelled 19 students while four others were suspended, following alleged misconduct. This was made known by the institution’s Director of Public Relations, Dr Charles Oni. According to Oni, the students were expelled after a thorough investigation proves that they were guilty of several offences ranging from cultism, rape, examination malpractices among others, which is against Section 14 (2) and Section 11 (4) of the college’s regulation. The Allied Congress Party of Nigeria has called on the Federal Government to make the economy very attractive through job creation, saying such would discourage the emigration of youths to Dubai, where he said many Nigerian graduates had turned to drivers and cooks. In a statement, presidential spokesman Reuben Abati declared that President Jonathan’s net worth was “a very, very far cry from the $100 million,” and threatened to sue all the publishers of the story at home and abroad. 35 year old Bright Asiruwa has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Benin city High Court for defiling an 11yr old primary school pupil in 2007 at Osazuwa Primary School in Ehor, Uhunmwode LGA of Edo state, while he was a teacher in the school. PM News reports that the case against the convicted rapist started at an Abudu High Court in 2008 and then finally moved to the Benin City High court where the presiding judge, Justice G. O. Imadegbelo, after examining all evidence brought against him, pronounced him guilty of rape and then sentenced him to life imprisonment.
