PRESIDENT BUHARI DIRECTS CBN, FINANCE MINISTRY ON REFUNDS TO STATE GOVERNMENTS

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, to act appropriately and with dispatch in releasing the second tranche of the London-Paris Club refunds to the states in order to ease their financial hardships. The President, who addressed the meeting of the National Economic Council made up of State Governors and chaired by the Vice-President on Thursday in Abuja, however, made a strong case for settlement of unpaid salaries and pension liabilities of their workers. “I will not rest until I address those issues that affect our people. One of these basic things is the issue of salaries. It is most important that workers are able to feed their families, pay rent and school fees, then other things can follow,” he said. Army identifies a town in Borno where residents hide Boko Haram members

The Nigerian Army has accused members of Magumeri town, in Magumeri local government area of Borno State, of collaborating and harboring some Boko Haram members in their community. Recall that the community came under serious attacks by the sect members yesterday evening but was repeled by the troops of 8 Task Force Division, Operation Lafiya Dole. The sect members had attempted to kill residents of the community and set it ablaze but they were repeled by the troops in the community In a statement released today, the Director Army Public Relation, Brig. General Sani Usman, says preliminary investigations into the attack have shown that the sect members that carried out the attacks lived within the community and are well known to the people. NBC allays concerns over benzoic acid in soft drinks

Our attention has been drawn to media reports, which contain misleading information on the safety of benzoic and ascorbic acids as ingredients in soft drinks, citing a Lagos High Court order. In the judgement delivered on February 15, 2017 in a suit involving FijabiAdebo Holdings Limited & Dr. Emmanuel FijabiAdebo v. Nigerian Bottling Company Limited (NBC) & National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), the Lagos High Court dismissed all claims against NBC and held that the company had not breached its duty of care to consumers and that there was no proven case of negligence against it.   In the same judgement, the court directed NAFDAC to mandate NBC to include a warning on its bottles of Fanta and Sprite that its contents cannot be taken with Vitamin C as same become poisonous if taken with Vitamin C. Former GMD, NNPC, Andrew Yakubu who was arraigned today, March 16, 2017, before Uustice A R Mohammed of the Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja on a six count charge bordering on non disclosure of assets, money laundering and advance fee fraud has been remanded in Kuje Prison pending ruling on his bail application. He is to return to the court on March 21, 2017.  Details later.

WHITE GAY MAN WHO TRIED TO HOOK UP WITH FACEBOOK FRIEND FOR GAY SEX BEATEN TO PULP IN LAGOS

Whiteman, simply identified as Mr Zcent, has escaped death after he visited his prospective gay friend he met on facebook to advance his sexual lust in Lagos. He was brutally attacked, battered and dumped at the Catholic Church land at Ori-Oke in Ejigbo area of Lagos by the attackers. The incident happened at the weekend after Zcent left his Lagos Island home and visited the friend in Ejigbo whom he had talked into gay practice through facebook. When he arrived in Ejigbo where he and his friend had fixed an appointment, he was suddenly surrounded by some youths who had already knew his mission in the area. P.M.EXPRESS gathered that when he arrived, he was forced out of his car and taking to the Catholic Church land where he was stripped, tortured, disgraced and left to his fate.
