Suspected Boko Haram Member Was Stoned To Death In Kano By Angry Youths


Angry youth stoned to death an unidentified man in Kano State on allegation he belonged to the Islamist militant Boko Haram sect.


The man was lynched by hundreds young men who grouped near Kano Central Mosque just before the beginning of Friday prayers.

The attackers said the man came to the area with an explosive substantial and a gun.

When a group of youth saw him, they chased man from Karkasara to the Central Mosque where he was rounded up and stoned to death.

The Kano Police spokesman, Musa Majiya, confirmed the episode.

Meanwhile he said security personnel arrived at the scene immediately but could not hint any of the supposed weapons the man was accused of carrying.

Magaji, an Assistance Superintendent of Police, said because the unproved suspicion, police had started investigation into what really occurred.

He cautioned the public against taking laws into their hands at any time they supposed anything untoward, saying it could lead to attacks on blameless residents.






The attack happened more than two months after Boko Haram launched a devastating bomb and gun attacks on the central mosque killing more than 150 people.

Earlier today it was said that Boko Haram militants attacked a village near Borno State capital, killing several villagers. The attack came less than 24 hours of the visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to troubled state.
