Breaking: ASUU Calls Off Strike

Report reaching DailyPost from Minna, Niger State capital, indicates that the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has called off its five months strike. The Union arrived at the latest decision to suspends its strike after a marathon meeting held at the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, Niger State on Monday. After a protracted debate, the Federal Government and ASUU reached a compromise during a negotiation brokered by the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar few days ago. ADO-EKITI — The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested eight persons, including a serving Permanent Secretary in Ondo State over the raid of a commercial bank in Ikere Ekiti last Thursday. The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Victor Babayemi, who gave the hint in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital on Saturday, said the Permanent Secretary and others were arrested in a bush at Ijare, a border town between Ekiti and Ondo states.

Corruption: Nigerians may revolt, Oshiomhole warns

BENIN— GOVERNOR Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, weekend, warned that Nigerians might revolt against leaders sooner than later, if government continued to pay lip service to the issue of corruption. While expressing shock that nobody had been jailed as a result of corruption despite the persistent alarm from the Federal Government about oil theft and several other corrupt practices, he warned that Nigerians were tired of excuses and might decide to take their destinies in their hands. The governor, who was the guest lecturer at the 2013 convocation of Benson Idahosa University, Benin City, spoke in a lecture entitled: Education and National Development.

Men of the Ogun State Police command have arrested a-45-year-old man, Pastor Daniel Samuel for stabbing his wife over her refusal to attend church activities. Daniel, an Apostolic Church pastor was said to have used a cutlass to inflict deep cuts on his wife, Mrs Patient Samuel in her neck in Ogun State. Funny enough, after Pastor Daniel attacked his wife with the cutlass, he alerted neighbours and lied that his wife was matcheted by some unknown men, and pleaded with them to help him take her to the hospital. The offence of his 42-year-old wife was that she decided to take care of her personal work that morning, due to pressure, but the pastor insisted that she must leave the work and come with him to church. 2 Men Who Raped A 16 Year Old Girl In Akure, Paraded

Two of the six cult boys who raped a 16 year old secondary school student in Akure, Ondo State last week have been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)  The men, said to members of a cult group known as Blue Angel, saw the girl as she was returning from school, they stopped her, took her to their hideout and raped her. All six of them. They recorded the act with a mobile phone and threatened to post the video online if she told anyone what happened. Fortunately she did and two of the rapists, Wale Fadahunsi, 28, and Banji Olaseinde, 25, have been arrested, while four others are on the run. Those on the run include Tope Oluwole; Tope Jigan and Muyideen. The two that were arrested were paraded a few days ago where they confessed to raping the helpless girl whose identity is being concealed because of her age. Watch the video after the cut..

Jonathan replies Obasanjo: Prove ‘hit-squad’ Allegation or Remain A Coward

President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday categorized former president Olusegun Obasanjo among those he called "spineless cowards" driven by "sheer greed and indecency", in an outburst over allegations he has authorized the training of a killer squad ahead of the 2015 elections. According to report by Premium Times , The president said those peddling the allegation that snipers are being trained by his government should better substantiate the claim or "shut up forever."
