BREAKING: Buhari orders probe of Ihejiriaka, Minimah

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the recommendation of the Committee charged with investigating the Defence Equipment Procurement from 2007 to 2015. This, according to a statement by thePresident of the Presidential Committee on the Audit of Defence Equipment Procurement in the Armed Forces, AVM Jon Ode, is to further investigate those involved, after the committee found a number of irregularities in the contract awards. The approval followed the Third Interim Report of the Presidential Committee on the Audit of Defence Equipment, which was released on Thursday. Among those to be investigated are 18 serving and retired military personnel, 12 serving and retired public officials and 24 Chief Executive Officers of Companies involved in the procurement. All were either accounting officers or played key roles in the Nigerian Army procurement activities during the period under review. Reps to probe non-payment of workers’ salaries despite bailout funds

The federal house of representatives on Thursday setup an ad hoc committee to investigate the non-utilisation of bailout funds received from federal government by some states who have been experiencing difficulty paying workers’ salaries. This resolution by the house was sequel to a motion on matters of urgent public importance sponsored by Karimi Sunday. He noted that the fall in the price of crude oil in the international market had taken its toll on allocations from federation account to state governments. The lawmaker blamed this for the failure of several states to meet their financial obligations to pay workers’ salaries. “The federal government, in July 2015, approved the release and disbursement of bailout funds totalling N689.5 billion to 27 States while a further N20 billion was disbursed to Kogi state government four months ago but noted that many of the state’s have refused to utilise the funds released for payment of worker’s salaries, “Ka...

Ubi Franklin clarifies controversy about Iyanya's exit from his record label

So after Iyanya announced that he was going to start his own record label, rumours were rife that he had a fight with Ubi Franklin and his wife Lillian Esoro. Early this morning, Iyanya denied any fight with either of them, adding that he loved the couple. Then Ubi Franklin took to his IG page to clarify the whole situation. The Imo State Government has described the protest by some Owerri women over the relocation of Ekeukwu market, as 'highly regrettable'. A statement issued by the Sam Onwuemeodo, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Rochas Okorocha said the traders themselves should be happy about this development as they are not doing themselves any good if they do not see the wisdom in what the government is doing with regard to the relocation of the market to a more convenient place. A news agency linked to the Islamic State, Amaq, claimed that its elite military commander Abu Omar al-Shishani, has been killed.   The 30-year-old better known as Omar the Chechen, reportedly died in combat near the Iraqi city of Shirqat, 100km from the ISIS stronghold of Mosul. The Pentagon is verifying whether al-Shishani died in a US drone strike carried out earlier this month, officials told CNN. Washington previously boasted that it took out al-Shishani, who has a $5 million bounty on his head, in Syria in March, only to backtrack when Islamic State said he survived his injuries. Al-Shishani was born into a mixed Georgian-Chechen family, and served in a spec ops unit in the Georgian army, before volunteering to join Islamic State three years ago.
