18 year old Connor Huntley (pictured above) was found by medics with a hammer embedded in his skull after his homophobic flat mate, 21 year old Joseph Williams attacked him with a hammer as he slept in their 2-bedroom apartment in Kent, UK. Boko Haram militants attacked a platoon led by the son of former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, shooting him today. He sustained serious injuries to his legs and was being transported to the hospital at the time of this report. Adeboye Obasanjo, an army engineer, was a Lieutenant Colonel at the 3rd Division in Jos, Plateau State.   He and his platoon were engaged with Boko Haram militants at Baza, which is the village of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 3rd division when the incident took place. The Secretary to the Borno state government, Amb. Ahmed Jidda says Boko Haram men have taken over a considerable part of the state. Speaking to newsmen yesterday September 7th in Borno state, the SSG said activities of the sect members have paralyzed most economy, social, political and government activities in the state. "At this very moment, most parts of Borno state are being occupied by Boko Haram insurgents. Government presence and administration is minimal or non-existent across many parts of the state, with economic, commercial and social services totally subdued. Schools and clinics remain closed. According to reports, 7 parents of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls have died and the health condition of some of the living ones show that they might also be well on the way. Leadership spoke to a senior official of the Borno State Ministry of Health who said that most of the parents are currently suffering from post-trauma stress disorder (PTSD) and high blood pressure. The source, who chose to remain anonymous, reportedly said that he had been working closely with most of the parents since the abduction of their daughters as the state government had provided the parents with the opportunity to receive medical and psycho-social counseling. A new mother and her newborn triplets were detained in a private hospital in Asaba, Delta State for 7 weeks after failing to pay about N725k medical bill. The mother, Mrs Echenim, said she was barred from leaving her room from when she gave birth in July till early September because of her family's inability to pay the bills. The triplets’ father, Godswill Echenim, said he took his wife to the clinic because of the prolonged strike by doctors in public hospital. "For about 7 weeks, since the kids were delivered, we have been in this hospital. I had registered my wife for ante-natal at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, but because of the strike by doctors, I brought her here for the delivery." He said last week. Over 50 men of the insurgency group, Boko Haram, were yesterday September 7th  killed after Nigerian troops raided the sect members hideout in Kwauri, Borno state. This is according to a statement by the Nigerian military. Items recovered from them includes Fabricated Artillery gun, Two Anti-aircraft gun, an armored vehicle and assorted types of ammunition. Food items, hardware, personal clothing were destroyed during the gun battle. One officer and two soldiers were seriously injured.

Just a few days after she posted a cheerful happy new month message on her Facebook page, congratulating friends for witnessing another new month, Mariam Anne Garba (pictured above) died in a fatal car accident. The Gombe State University student, died after the car she was riding in collided with another car on the Bauchi-Gombe Road, at Sharfuri village in Kirfi LGA of Bauchi State on September 6th. Mariam wasn't the only one who died. She died alongside five other students of Gombe university. The students were riding in a red Volkswagen Vento car with registration no DAL 195-Gj when the accident occurred. The students were rushed to Alkaleri General Hospital in Alkaleri, where they were confirmed dead. May their souls rest in peace...amen.

A professor of Ophthalmology at the Lagos State Teaching hospital, LUTH, Prof Adebukola Adefule Oshitelu, has laid claims that ‘Genus Corchorus’ popularly known as Ewedu in Nigeria is capable of curing the Ebola Virus Disease. Speaking with PM NEWS ,She said this at the 2014 African Traditional Medicine organised by NAFDAC  at Ikeja, Lagos state. Nigeria has recorded another Ebola case, the Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, said Monday. Mr. Chukwu​ ​​said the new case is the fiance of one of the primary contacts of the index case, Patrick Sawyer. Mr. Chukwu said the primary contact had, however, made a fully recovery. Th​e new case brings the total number of Ebola cases in Nigeria to 19 with seven people dead from the disease while 10 others have recovered, the minister said. He also noted that the sister of the Port Harcourt doctor, Ikechukwu Enemuo, who treated one of Mr. Sawyer’s primary contact in a hotel secretly, has fully recovered and been discharged. Mr. Chukwu said with the latest developments, the total number of people under surveillance in Lagos have reduced to 27 while Port Harcourt has 477. According to reports, terrorist sect, Boko Haram has sent a warning letter to the MOPOL 24 Barracks in the Mpampe area of Abuja. According to The Eagle Online, a senior officer said that the letter was the third received from the terrorists this year. The letter was reportedly sent to the barracks to warn the residents that they would soon be attacked by the sect. The senior officer, who resides in the barracks, also allegedly said that the letter was not being taken lightly due to the recent attack on the police training academy in Gwoza, Borno State.
