Jega disappointed me on how he conducted the 2015 general election- GEJ says

In a book scheduled to be launched on Friday April 28th, former spokesperson of late President Musa Yar'Adua and Chairman of Thisday editorial board, Segun Adeniyi, revealed that Former President Goodluck Jonathan was unhappy with the manner former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega, went about conducting the 2015 general election which he lost in to President Buhari. Part of the book quotes Jonathan to have said; “I was disappointed by Jega because I still cannot understand what was propelling him to act the way he did in the weeks preceding the election. As at the first week in February 2015 when about 40 percent of Nigerians had not collected their PVCs, Jega said INEC was ready to conduct an election in which millions of people would be disenfranchised.” Jonathan is also quoted to have accused that Americans were urging Jega to go on with the elections despite the fact that some Nigerians had not collected thei

Man gets publicly humiliated and beaten for slapping a lady wearing a Biafran cap and forcing her to take it off (video/photos)

A man in Ogoni, Rivers state was publicly humiliated for attacking a woman because she was wearing a Biafran cap. According to the lady's statement, she had been walking along the road when the man accosted her and slapped her then demanded she takes the cap off. Unfortunately for the man, the woman refused to be bullied and he got a taste of his medicine. In the video, which is fast going viral, the woman can be seen explaining to a crowd what had transpired. She said that after the man slapped her, demanding she got rid of the cap, she slapped him back and he attacked her. He broke her phone, her watch and inflicted injuries on her with a screwdriver. When the man was asked what transpired, he admitted he owns the screwdriver but denied that he was the one responsible for the woman's injuries. He claimed he only approached her "like a man". His story did not seem convincing and he was manhandled by the crowd. See the video below.

The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu has been granted bail by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja. Nnamdi Kanu was granted bail on health ground. The IPOB leader is also expected to provide three sureties one of who must be a serving senator, a jewish religious leader and highly respected person and must own a land in anywhere in Abuja The bail bond is N100 million for each surety. He was also ordered never to grant any press interview pending the outcome of his trial He will not be in a gathering of more than 10 persons The judge on the matter Justice Binta Nyako said Kanu's bail will be revoked if any of the orders are flouted. ​Ekiti State Governor​, Ayo ​Fayose​, is in ​c​ourt in solidarity with IPOB Leader, Nnamdi K​anu,​ whose ​hearing ​is set to com​mence​ before Justice Nyako. The governor is now seated at the Federal High Court 4, Abuja. ​The court had on April 6 fixed ​today to deliver ruling in the application for variation of the order of court on protection of witnesses in the case against Kanu. Kanu, through his defence counsels led by Ifeanyi Ejiofor, asked the court to set aside the order made on December 13, 2016 for the protection of witnesses. Kanu’s lawyers argued that having been acquitted of the charges of terrorism and importation of weapons, the defendants cannot be tried with the identities of witnesses based on section 36(6) of the 1999 Constitution. Again, Saraki's false asset declaration trial postponed

The trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki, earlier postponed from April 18 to April 25 has again been shifted till the 27th of this month. Mr. Saraki is facing trial on an 18-count charge for alleged false declaration of asset at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT. The trial which began in September 2015 has in recent times suffered setbacks mostly at the instance of the prosecution. Shortly before the previously adjourned date of April 18, the Code of Conduct Tribunal issued a statement saying that the matter was postponed following a request by the prosecution. When PREMIUM TIMES correspondent arrived the venue on Tuesday, an official again briefed about a further adjournment based on a request by the prosecution. Scores feared dead in accident in Abia state

A fatal accident that occured over the weekend on the Ikot-Ekpene-Aba Expressway in Aba, Abia state, led to the death of many and several others injured. The accident, which involved a truck, a couple of tricylces, a commercial bus and a private owned car, was reportedly caused by the truck. According to witnesses, the truck, heavily loaded with chippings, was speeding as it descended the Ogbor Hill Bridge, when it lost control and crashed into several vehicles and pedestrians. The bus and tricycles popularly called Keke Napep were loading passengers when the truch hit them, sending them through the rail of the bridge, and into the water below.  The Nation reports that the truck driver and his conductor escaped the scene of the accident. Ogun State Governor, Governor Ibikunle Amosun, on Monday, rescued Ms Idia Babalola, an aide of Governor Rauf Aregbesola and Commissioner nominee in Osun State from an angry mob at the premises of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke. The crowd of sympathisers became restless when Babalola, a former Special Adviser to Governor Aregbesola, came in for the Islamic prayers ahead of the internment of the two-time Senator and first elected governor of Osun State. Angry sympathisers demanded that Babalola be made to leave the premises. When pleas from dignitaries at the event, including Ondo State Governor, Mr.Rotimi Akeredolu, failed to persuade the angry crowd, Governor Amosun had to join some other dignitaries in personally shielding the lady and leading her out of the premises. One dead, one in coma, several injured following accident

Two accidents on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway Sunday led to the death of a driver while several were injured, one of whom is presently in a coma. The first crash which occurred at Ibalex Bus Stop, Ilasmaja between the early hours of 4 and 5 a.m. was as a result of a collision between a gravel-laden truck and a trailer carrying oil, while the second accident was between a Volkswagen commercial bus and a truck at the exact same spot. In the first accident, 4 people were injured when the truck conveying gravel hit the trailer loaded with oil. The trailer was marked KY153YTK; there were no numbers on the truck. The truck driver and motor-boys were said to have been trapped inside the vehicle for over 30 minutes before they were rescued and the injured were conveyed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS). The Presidency has recalled the State House correspondent of Punch newspaper, Olalekan Adetayo, who was expelled from the villa by President Buhari's Chief Security Officer CSO, Bashir Abubakar over a report he wrote on President Buhari's failing health which was published last Sunday Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, who reacted to the news via his twitter handle, said the President's media office was not consulted before Adetayo was expelled. According to Adesina, President Buhari believes in Freedom of Speech and would not support press suppression. Bashir Ahmad who is President Buhari's Personal Assistant on New Media, announced the recall of Adetayo on twitter.

Autopsy says Isiaka Adeleke died from painkiller overdose

The cause of senator Isiaka Adeleke's death has been made public. According to pathologists who carried out an autopsy on him before he was buried, the senator reportedly died of overdose of painkillers.   The lifeless body of Adeleke was returned to LAUTECH Hospital, Osogbo, for an autopsy after his sudden death at the hospital  on Sunday .  Reports that followed his death was that he had died of cardiac arrest, but the indigenes of his home town, Ede, insisted that they wanted to know the cause of his death on the assumption that his death was not natural.   According to Sahara Reporters, the politician did not die of poisoning but as a result of an overdose of painkillers intravenously administered on him.

Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina has reacted to the dismissal of a Punch reporter from Aso Rock by President Buhari's Chief Security Officer, Bashir Abubakar, today April 24th. Bashir seized Adetayo's tag and ordered him out of Aso Rock over a report he wrote which was published on the Sunday edition of the paper. The report centered on President Buhari's ill health. Adetayo was escorted out of the Presidential Villa by security operatives after picking his belongings from the Press Gallery of the Council Chamber. Reacting to the news, Femi via his twitter handle, said the media office of the Presidency was not contacted before the reporter was expelled. He added that President Buhari was committed to press freedom.
