Jonathan a patriotic, humble leader – APC

T he All Progressives Congress (APC) has described former President Goodluck Jonathan as a patriotic and humble leader. APC said this in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdulahi, congratulating the former President on his 60th birthday. The party said Jonathan demonstrated love for the country during the 2015 Presidential election. The statement reads: “The All Progressives Congress APC warmly congratulates former president, H.E. BREAKING: Mugabe Ends TV Speech Without Announcing Resignation.

Z imbabwe’s embattled leader, Robert Mugabe, has vowed to stay in power for several weeks, despite intense pressure on him to stand down. “The (ruling ZANU-PF) party congress is due in a few weeks and I will preside over its processes,” Mr. Mugabe said in in a live TV address monitored by BBC. Earlier on Sunday, the ruling party in Zimbabwe, Zanu-PF, sacked Mr. Mugabe who has been in power since 1980. After a meeting of party leaders on Sunday, officials said ex-Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who was fired by Mr. Mugabe two weeks ago, has been appointed leader of the party. Mr Mugabe’s 52-year-old wife, Grace, was expelled from the party, alongside a number of other senior officials. It is not entirely clear how Mr. Mugabe can preside over Zanu-PF’s congress next month, following his dismissal as party leader. Officials of the Southern African Development Commission, led by South African officials, are currently leading mediation talks between Mr.

BREAKING: Robert Mugabe resigns as Zimbabwe President

Z imbabwe President Robert Mugabe has agreed to step down after 37 years in power. He is expected to officially announce his departure on live television tonight.  Prior to resigning, the elderly dictator was in a state of psychological collapse, crying for his dead son and late first wife, refusing to speak or wash and staging a desperate hunger strike, DailyMail reports. He has until noon local time on Monday to resign as president or impeachment proceedings will start, Zanu-PF said. The news of his resignation was greeted with ecstatic celebrations all over the country, with cars honking horns and crowds spontaneously taking to the streets of the capital. People danced, sang and shouted anti-Mugabe slogans. Emmerson 'Crocodile' Mnangagwa, the former Vice President is expected to become Zimbabwe's new president as early as tomorrow.

BREAKING: INEC announces Willie Obiano winner

I t was a landslide victory for the incumbent Governor of Anambra State and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Willie Obiano, has emerged the winner of the Anambra State governorship election. Announcing the result, the Chief Returning Officer for the election, Professor Zanna Akpagu,said the incumbent governor won in all the 21 local governments of the state with a total of 234,071 votes. Tony Nwoye, his closest rival and candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, ganered 98, 752 votes While Oseloka Obaze of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, came third with 70, 293 votes. The exercise was carried out on Saturday with candidates of about 37 political parties contesting for the exalted position of the governor of the state. Leading contenders for the position were candidates of APGA, Obiano; Tony Nwoye of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Oseloka Obaze of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
