Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), according TheCable, has conceded the slot picking of his running mate to Bola Tinubu, national leader of the party. This has in effect diminished the chances of Chibuike Amaechi, governor of Rivers state, who was all along tipped to be the vice-presidential candidate. Further discussions are going to be held this weekend, but a quick decision may not be reached. The party still has up till December 18 to submit the name of the nominee to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Buhari’s decision to give Tinubu the slot is apparently based on the voting population of the south-west which he is banking on to upstage the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 presidential election. “Politics is not winner-takes-all. Tinubu worked round the clock to deliver a huge chunk of votes to Buhari in the primary, and it is only fair that he is honoured in return,”

I wonder why INEC cannot give us this electronic voting device in Nigeria, or is it that we have not gotten to the stage of using such a device? If India can use it, why can' we use it. 895 Million voters use this Electronic Voting Machine in India and how many are we in Nigeria?

The police in Owerri, the Imo state capital successfully defused two Improvised Explosive device IED found at the lobby of a popular eatery on Wednesday December 10th. Speaking on the incident, the state's police commissioner, Abdulmajid Ali, said a distress call was put across to the command by the manager of the eatery and a bomb squad was immediately drafted to the scene where the bomb was immediately defused. He appealed to members of the public to always come forward with information whenever anything odd is noticed  "I want to thank the Imolites(Imo state citizens) for given us this information on time because if not it could have caused a lot of damage. According to MailOnline , A schoolgirl was repeatedly forced to have sex with her long-lost father after she tracked him down through Facebook, a court heard. The 13-year-old became aware of who he was through friends and Facebook postings and found out that he was living in South Yorkshire. After meeting her father for the first time, the teenager was invited to stay longer and her mother eventually allowed her to live with the 41-year-old. But the man then went on to have s.ex with the youngster 'on a regular basis' over a six month period, Sheffield Crown Court heard. Initially she slept on the sofa but when her father split up with his girlfriend he 'turned his attention' to his daughter, prosecutor Timothy Capstick said. This 13 year old girl (pictured above) wearing an explosives-packed vest was arrested in Kano state yesterday December 11th. The girl was arrested after she and a male accomplice walked into a clinic seeking medical treatment. Suspicious hospital staff alerted police who immediately arrested the two. On searching her, Police discovered explosives hidden under her hijab. The police later revealed that the young girl was from Bauchi and was part of the 'suicide team' that attacked a market in Kano on Wednesday Dec. 10th.

A Canadian mother named Lisa Batstone has been charged with murder after the body of her 8yr old daughter was found in the trunk of a car. The lifeless body of Tegan Batstone was discovered by police responding to a call about a car in a ditch, just south of Vancouver, British Columbia on Wednesday Dec. 10th. According to  the Toronto Sun , the divorced mother, 41, was taken into custody at the scene before being charged with second-degree murder. Authorities are yet to say why the mother killed the girl and also the girl's cause of death. An autopsy has been scheduled. The woman's lawyers told the court that she'd been depressed and had been on a variety of medications before the incident.

Some residents of Lagos State living around Cele bus Stop on the Oshodi-Apapa expressway, on Friday sent a Save-Our-Soul message to the government and security agencies over rising gang rape. The residents, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria, alleged that the illegal activity was not only carried out in Cele area but also in places like Oshodi and Mile 2. According to them, the nefarious act was being perpetrated by miscreants who usually attack unsuspecting victims coming back from work anytime from 4 p.m. A market woman who sells wares around Cele bus stop and who identified herself as ‘Mama Doyin’ told the NAN that the development had become worrisome as it was on the increase. A 25-year-old housemaid, Tina Kwesi, who allegedly stole her employer’s jewellery worth N50m was on Friday brought before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court in Lagos. Kwesi, who hails from Benue, is standing trial on a two counts of conspiracy and stealing. The Prosecutor, Babaji Ishaku, told the court that the accused committed the offences on November 25 at 9, Shanti Sule Street, Lekki Phase 1 in Lagos State. Ishaku said the accused conspired with one other person still at large, to steal assorted gold jewellery valued at N50m, property of one Mrs Victoria Sule. The prosecutor stated that the accused was working as a maid in the house of Sule and she had access to where the jewellery were kept. He said the offences committed contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011. The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
