Suspected Boko haram members today ambushed a military base in Buni Yadi, the headquarters of Gujba Local government area of Yobe state. Residents in the town said they saw dead bodies of ten soldiers, Police DPO, DCO and thirteen rank and file. Reports according to DailyTrust , A resident said that the militants ambushed the soldiers and killed ten of them in their camp at Ten Housing Estate. Adding that one House was razed down to ashes. "They disguised in military uniforms and approached the gate in hilux vans and Armored tanks painted in military color. The soldiers mistook them as colleagues and opened the gate before the attackers opened fire on them" He said. He said the policemen where attacked in the Gujba divisional Police Headquarters barrack located opposite the military base. Gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram terror group on Monday attacked various communities around the rocky mountains of Gwoza town of Borno State killing nine villagers and setting ablaze houses and churches in the area, residents and a public official said. PremiumTimes  gartered that, the insurgents also hoisted their flags in Ashigashiya ward of Gwoza Local Government Area and are currently celebrating in the area which they have now declared their headquarters. Sources from Gwoza hills said apart from the nine people killed, several others were left with serious bullet injuries as fleeing residents now take refuge on tall rocky hills. Mr. Obi left for India yesterday in company of his media aide, Mr. Valentine Obienyem. The two men confirmed in a message from India that Prof. Akunyili is responding to treatment and that her situation is nothing near the scary picture being painted by rumour mongers. Prof. Dora Akunyili’s husband, Dr. Chike Akunyili, confirmed to me on phone this morning that Messrs Obi and Obienyem are with them in the hospital. “We are very happy to see them. We are even happier that they have volunteered to spend the entire day with us before returning home to Nigeria,” Dr. Akunyili said. He also expressed appreciation to Nigerians, saying: “We can never thank Nigerians enough; their prayers are working.”

MAIDUGURI— Residents of Attagara and Kawuri villages in Gwoza and Bama local government areas of Borno State, respectively, repelled attacks on their community by suspected Boko Haram insurgents. A resident said the attackers invaded the village yesterday on motorcycles but met some women, adding “they wanted to hit the women with sticks but when they raised the sticks, their hands hanged in the air and refused to descend .  According  To Vanguard , “Three of the insurgents fled, but seven were not lucky as the women alerted the people,” and the vigilante group in the community rushed to the scene, disarmed the seven insurgents, who were later lynched. Her name is Lydia Komolafe. She is one of the victims of last Tuesday’s twin bomb blasts at the Terminal Market, Jos, Plateau State.  Komolafe had in weeks preceding her untimely death lamented the incessant loss of lives to the Boko Haram insurgency. This she did in a series of tweets. On May 19, two days before the Tuesday attack, Komolafe prayed for a brighter and rewarding week. This was expressed in the post she penned on her Twitter page which read, “This week, I shall be satisfied with favour.” Sadly, this was not to be as Komolafe was one of the seven students of the Medical Laboratory Science Department of the University of Jos, who lost their lives in the bombing. Meanwhile, a cursory look at her Twitter timeline and the activities therein revealed that she was indeed philosophical as she was clearly not apolitical, as evident in her posts. Nigerian journalist, Ahmad Salkida, who previously worked for Daily Trust and Premium Times and reported extensively on Boko Haram, fled Nigeria to Dubai 2 years ago after being accused of being a Boko Haram sympathizer. He said he fled after 'his life and that of his family became endangered' after security agencies began to mistake his in-depth reporting on the terrorist group as evidence of his closeness to them. He went underground for several weeks before finally fleeing Nigeria. Salkida was perhaps the only Nigerian journalist/civilian to have access to Boko Haram, and he said at the time that he'd turned down Boko Haram's many requests for him to publish exclusive interviews and materials for them.
