Below is a press release from the Nigerian Police... T he Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Suleiman Abba NPM, mni, today, August 20, 2014 at Force Headquarters, Abuja, received the US Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, James F. Entwistle. The US Ambassador congratulated the Ag. IGP on his new appointment as the Police Boss and thanked the Nigeria Police Force for its high level of co-operation and huge partnership with the US Embassy in Nigeria.   The Ambassador thereafter presented High tech Bomb disposal robots/equipment to the Nigeria Police Force. Ebola: Fiancé of late nurse, Obi Ejelonu, admitted to hospital with suspected case

According to Sahara Reporters, the fiancé of Obi Ejelonu, the nurse who died of the Ebola virus after being infected by Patrick Sawyer, is suspected to have contracted the Ebola virus from his late fiance. The suspected patient, whose name was given simply as "Dennis",  allegedly suffered from a high fever three days ago but said he had recovered, SR reports.  He's since been admitted in the hospital.  A new blood test has been ordered, with results expected as soon as tomorrow.

The Presidency has described late Dr. Ameyo Shade Stella Adadevoh, who died of the Ebola Virus disease contracted from the Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer as, ‘a real Nigerian hero.’ Special Assistant to President Jonathan on New Media, Reno Omokri, in a tweet via his handle @renoomokri wrote, “No greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends-John 15:13. Ebola: Lagos confirms five fresh suspected cases

The Lagos State Government Wednesday revealed that the state has received five additional suspected cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD). The fresh suspected cases were said to have been brought in on Tuesday. Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris who disclosed this to journalists on the update on government’s effort to contain the virus, said two of the fresh suspected cases are secondary contacts while the remaining three are primary contacts with the late Liberian, Patrick Sawyer who imported the disease into the country. According to the commissioner, the fresh suspected cases have increased the number of patients in isolation wards from two to six; adding that one of the suspected cases was a Liberian who was brought into the isolation centre from the Muritala Muhammed International Airport. And now, we all have a chance to remember him, and in a way, to honour him. He is the man on our one Naira coin. Herbert Olayinka Samuel Heelas Badmus Macaulay, had a daughter, Sarah Idowu Abigail, who would get married and give birth to a son, Babatunde Kwaku Adadevoh. Babatunde would grow up to become a doctor, and have kids of his own. One of these children, Stella Ameyo, became, like her father, a doctor. She would go on to work at a hospital in Obalende, Lagos, First Consultant Hospital, not very far from where her famous ancestor was once imprisoned by the British. Continue.. A Jalingo Magistrate Court has remanded a 25-year-old, James Nicodemus Koknyom, of opposite Deeper Life Camp, Jalingo, for allegedly killing his father. According to the first information report, the accused person, on August 1, 2014, intentionally knocked down his father, Mr. Nicodemus Koknyon, with a Toyota Hilux Van with registration No: DS 895GGE when the father refused to allow him to go out with the vehicle. The FIR noted that on August 8, 2014, a case of culpable homicide was later transferred from the GRA Divisional Police Headquarters to criminal investigation departmen. “He (James) knocked him down and marched his (Nichodemus’) head. As a result, he sustained an injury on his head and was rushed to the state specialist hospital, Jalingo, where he later died while on admission,” the FIR said. Police on the run In what looks like illegal road block mounted by some suspected mobile policemen around Umunede new Road junction on the popular Asaba-Benin Expressway at the weekend created funny scenes when one of the policemen, believed to have hailed from the northern part of the country, ran and shouted for help after mistaking Eboka for Ebola. Those who saw him running at the state of confusion also took to their heels, while those trapped in their vehicles that could not immediately run for their dare lives watched hopelessly for the worst to come. It was gathered that the mobile policeman had demanded to check the particularly of a privately owned car and shouted at the owner of the car to bring his particulars. With the threatening look on the face of the policeman and the gun he was clutching, the car owner was said to have told him Eboka, causing him to take off at a frightening speed and shouting for help. Soon, other vehicles behind and his colleagues
