The Akwa Ibom House of Assembly on Monday passed into law, the Former Governor and Deputy Governor’s Pension Bill 2014 into law — a legislative work that will see the ex-governors of the state earn millions of naira for every of their petty needs after leaving office. According to the bill, which Akpabio sent to the House on 15th May 2014 with a mandate that it must be passed before 1st June 2014, the governor will receive pension for life at the rate of his current salary, which translates to N26.7million. Similarly, his deputy, Mrs. Valerie Ibe, will earn an annual pension of N25.3m. With the passage of the bill, Akpabio will also be given N5million every month to employ domestic staff, while his deputy will have N2.5million for the same purpose. He will be entitled to free medical services for himself and his spouse at a sum not exceeding N100 million per annum and N50 million for Valerie, while he will have “a befitting accommodation” not below a 5-bedroom maisonette in eit...

More than six weeks since over 276 schoolgirls were kidnapped the Boko Haram insurgents at the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State, the Nigerian military might have finally discovered where the girls are being kept. The Punch online reports that the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, has stated that the Nigerian security leadership has located where members of Boko Haram are holding the abducted girls who were kidnapped on April 14. It was also stated that Badeh said the military would not use force to rescue the girls in order not to prevent the terrorists from killing them. The military boss was said to have made this statements while receiving a solidarity rally organised by the Citizens Initiative for Security Awareness, led by its National Coordinator, Mr. Chidi Omeze, outside the Defence Headquarters, Abuja on Monday. The Igbo community in Jos, Plateau State, has confirmed that 36 Igbo men and women residing in Jos were killed in the twin bomb blast that rocked the city on Tuesday May 20th, with 42 others  injured and many others still missing. The Eze Igbo II of Jos  Prof. Joseph Obilom stated this today Monday May 26th while addressing newsmen at his Palace in Jos.   "Our people were worst hit by the blast. Most of our members are traders, who own shops at the terminus market. Goods worth millions of Naira of our members were destroyed. We are calling on the Federal and State government to come to our aid by sending relief materials to the injured and affected members." he said

In February 2013, a 67 year old grandmother from Australia who traveled to South Africa to meet a Nigerian man she met online was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a Johannesburg guest house within days of meeting the man who called himself Jesse Orowo Omokoh.  Jesse is believed to have scammed the woman in excess of $90k. After the woman's death, Jesse, 28, disappeared. Well, after a year on the run, he has been arrested in Lagos. EFCC worked with West Australian fraud squad to find the man and all his accomplices. EFCC officials with policemen and 60minutes TV crew stormed the man's home in the outskirt of Lagos around 6am for the dramatic take down. Tope Fadipe, the lady who was attacked with acid by a Nigerian Customs Officer in Badagry area has been discharged from the General Hospital in Badagry, Sahara Reporters reports. (Read  here ) Tope was admitted at the hospital on May 9th following the attack by Chief Superintendent of Customs F.C. Nwaeze, who accused her of failing to remit N50,000 in stock sales to his wife, an allegation Tope denied but was still punished for it. The acid caused the victim grievous bodily harm. Her attacker is currently being held at the Police State Criminal Investigation Department at Panti in Yaba, Lagos. Continue... Celebrity TV star Kim Kardashian and music star Kanye West have jetted into Ireland for a secret honeymoon after their Italian wedding. The couple - known as Kimye - arrived by private jet at Cork Airport at 3pm today and were met by a fleet of Mercedes limousines. They were whisked off for a five day honeymoon at an undisclosed location. It is believed the couple will holiday at a luxury private estate in Munster. However, they are also expected to spend at least a day in Dublin - and will tour some of Ireland's most famous tourist attractions. Two middle-aged men, who were said to be die-hard supporters of Real Madrid Football Club, on Saturday slumped and died during the Champions League’s Final between Real Madrid and Athletico Madrid when the former team failed to equalise the one goal at 90 minutes of the game. IBADAN — A teacher, identified as Olayinka Folarin, has been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command for allegedly defiling three under-aged primary school girls, including two orphans, who live in an orphanage, His Heritage Home. The incident happened at a private school in Oluyole Estate, Ibadan. The victims whose ages were put between 10 and 11 years were said to have been serially abused by the teacher. According to one of the rape victims, the teacher, who has four children, had been having sex with them since 2013 on a weekly basis. The girls, it was gathered, were being abused inside the school toilet without the knowledge of the school management. Though, the suspect had allegedly threatened to kill any of the girls who spoke out, but his shady deal was exposed when one of the girls was seen crying after another round of illicit sex with the teacher.
