Nurse fired for filming Neymar in hospital (see the video)

The nurse who filmed Brazilian striker Neyma being wheeled around on a hospital trolley has been fired, according to an article on Brazilan football site UOL. The nurse has been criticized for not only recording the football star in that state but also for blowing kisses to the camera afterwards and laughing. She then posted the video to her Facebook page. Personally, I don't see how this is a big deal but the hospital management released a statement saying the nurse, named Chintia, has been fired. See the video below

This is the eye-watering moment a man was gored by a bull after falling to the ground as the traditional running of the bulls festivals got underway with the first of the runs being held across Spain today. The bull charged at the man and attacked him with its horns as he lay on the ground, surrounded by concerned onlookers. The shocking moment occurred during the Bous a la Mar (Bulls in the Sea) festival, in Denia, near Alicanta, on the eastern coast of Spain, in which men emerge from protective barriers and encourage bulls to chase them. The festival was taking place as thousands of runners raced alongside fighting bulls through the streets of the northern Spanish city of Pamplona. The Imo state Police command yesterday July 6th paraded 25 suspected and prospective cult members of some polytechnics in Imo state, including the Alvan Ikoku College of Education and Imo state Polytechnic. The Police acting on a tip off from residents of Emi village in Owerri North local government area stormed the Emi river at about  3.30am  when initiation process for new members was being carried out. The young men were arrested after a gun battle with the police. Marijuana, weapons and all manner of charms were found with them. Continue... The world of football is in mourning after legendary Real Madrid forward Alfredo di Stefano died at the age of 88.  The former Spain, Argentina and Colombia international suffered a heart attack near the club’s Bernabeu stadium on Saturday afternoon and passed away on Monday afternoon. Real Madrid’s honorary president was attended to by emergency medical services after suffering a cardiac arrest that reportedly lasted 18 minutes on Saturday and he had been kept in an induced coma in the coronary unit at the General Universitario Gregorio Maranon Hospital in the Spanish capital.  However, his condition took a tragic turn for the worse on Monday afternoon and one of football’s most iconic names has died. Details of the 19 new states proposed by the ongoing National Conference t be created in addition to the 36 already in existence have been identified. This was contained in the documents obtained Saturday. For the proposed Edu State, which will be created out of the present Niger State, it will be made up of Agagie, Bida North, Edati, Agbakoba, Katcha, Lapai, Labun and Mokwa Local Governments with its capital in Bida. Apa State will be carved out of the present Benue State and made up of Agatu, Apa, Otukpo, Oju, Obi, Obi, Ohimini, Okpokwu and Ofbadigbo Local Government Areas with capital in Otukpo. If Kainji State is created, it will be created from the present Kebbi and Niger states and it will be made up of Danko/Wasagu, Fakai, Zuru, Shanga, Sakaba, Nhaski, Yauri, Rijau, Mariga, Magama, Kontagora, Agwara, Borgo and Mashefu Local Governments. In January 2014 during the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, D'banj helped launch the Do Agric Petition. A petition that calls on leaders for more and better investment in Agriculture. D'banj was the first to publicly sign the petition. In April, he led 19 of Africa's top artists to record the hit song "Cocoa Na Chocolate" to promote the petition and help rebrand Agriculture among Africa's youth.  The campaign has been a great success as over 2 million Africans from every African country has signed the petition. D'banj recently met with ONE co-founder Bono and presented him the petition in recognition of the way he has inspired Africans themselves to lead the fight for change in Africa.

The shooting which occurred at the Oba market, at the centre of Benin metropolis, Vanguard gathered, forced many traders in the market to lock up their shops and run for their lives following riots occasioned by the killing. It was gathered that Osamame had asked one of his friends to shoot him to test a new charm that he had acquired against bullets after incising and rubbing the charms on their bodies and they decided to test it with live bullets. Bank manager found hanging in uncompleted building 3 weeks after he went missing

The body of Habib Olatunde (pictured above), a bank manager of an undisclosed Nigerian bank, has been found two weeks and six days after he was declared missing by the police. Late Mr Olatunde's body was found hanging in an uncompleted building at Arepo in Ogun state on Saturday July 5th around  5pm . Abayomi Shogunle, the Deputy Force PRO, Nigeria Police Force, revealed this.

Polytechnic Students Take Over Abuja Expressway In Owo To Protest Tuition Fees - Sahara Reporters

Students of Ondo State  Rufus Giwa Polytechnic in Owo, Ondo state this morning began a major protest against the rise in tuition  fees at the institution. The state-owned polytechnic had jerked annual school fees from ₦21,300 for students in  National Diploma in sciences to N58,300 ND and ₦53,800 to 73,000 and ₦78,500. The management of the school also imposed additionally ₦20,000 on non-indigenes.  The new fee regime became effective shortly after Governor Olusegun Mimiko won its second term election in the state. However, majority of the impressed students students could not afford the fees and had engaged in dialogue with the school management until riots broke out today. The students have  taken over the  busy Owo/Abuja expressway, locked up the offices of the rector,  Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun and also taken the school’s main gates, and driven around in Owo to draw attention of residents to their plight.

TRAGEDY: UNN students’ bus crashes on way to burial

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a gang of armed robbers who specialised in robbing traders and commuters in the early morning hours at the Iyana Oba and Badagry areas of Lagos. Members of the four-man gang are Bode Oladejo, who is said to be the ring leader, Christian Opene, Matthew Nwachie, and a yet-to-be identified member, who the police said was still at large. Our correspondent learnt that the police received a tip-off about the gang, and the Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, directed the Special Anti-Robbery Squad team, led by Abba Kyari, to go after them. Castro minutes before he drowned trying to save female friend Popular Ghanaian Hiplife musician, Castro (a.k.a Theophilus Tagoe) reportedly drowned yesterday in the Aqua safari beach while trying to rescue his girlfriend. Castro, his girlfriend and a close friend (who is also a footballer for the Black Stars), Asamoah Gyan, had gone on a weekend rendezvous when the unfortunate incident happened. According to GhanaWeb, Castro had taken one of the boats out on a cruise on the Volta Lake alongside his girlfriend, while the others continued with their relaxation at shore. The lady, who was not wearing a life jacket, suddenly fell into the lake, prompting Castro to try to rescue her, but ended up drowning with her. Castro’s body and his girlfriend’s are yet to be found but his ski has been found. Until his death, he was famous for his hit track “sikletele” This is such a sad news.
