Our Ideology Has Enhanced Business Growth - PDP Says

Image
In a statement released this afternoon, the PDP says its ideology has enhanced the growth of businesses in Nigeria and also energized the private sector. The statement signed by the party's Publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh reads in part; The growth of the private sector under the PDP has been phenomenal. This did not happen by chance. Our governments at all levels have been guided by our economic policy, which directs the creation of a dynamic economy in which market forces are combined with the forces of partnership, solidarity and cooperation for the benefit of the people. “The hallmark of the PDP administration remains the policy of transfer  of wealth from the public sector to hardworking and enterprising  Nigerians. This has not only revived and empowered the private sector  but also expanded the nation’s economic frontiers with an unprecedented  growth in small and medium scale enterprises, which has helped in  providing employment for our citizens

Image
Nigeria's rep at the just concluded Big Brother Africa,  Tayo   Faniran  says he was shocked and thought the shows host, IK Osakioduwa was pulling a fast one on him when he heard his fellow competitor, Idris announced as the winner of the reality show "You see, when we were all in school, we all knew who the best students in the class were, and when someone who was the best student scored 70, we would say, haba, this person should score like 90.  Idris himself knows I won, but he only got the money. When we got on stage and were shown the highlights, I saw myself and I was laughing. In fact, everybody was entertained. The way people cheered when they heard my name assured me that I was winning already, so when Idris’s name was mentioned, I was shocked. For a while, I thought IK, the show’s host, was joking with me" he told the Nation Asked if he feels cheated,   Tayo   said yes "Well, yes. But I don’t feel it anymore because people are no

I Consulted Pastor Adeboye Before Accepting To Be Buhari’s Running Mate - Osinbajo

Image
APC’s Muhammadu Buhari's running mate, Yemi Osinbajo who also doubles as a pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church Of God, said he consulted the General Overseer of the church, Pastor E.A Adeboye, before embarking on this journey, Mr Osinbajo spoke to Kayode Falade... The Redeemed Christian Church of God, where you are a pastor, has come out to say it never endorsed you… I don’t think the church has ever said any such thing. Also, the church does not endorse candidates. The General Overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has not said any such thing. He has not issued any statement. In any event, the RCCG as a church cannot endorse a candidate. How can a church endorse a candidate? But did you seek Pastor Adeboye’s consent before accepting the nomination? I serve under the GO of the RCCG as a pastor. If I am going to take any kind of action, especially an action that involves public service, it is my duty to consult with him. It would

Image
The last may not have been heard about the controversy trailing the educational certificates of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2015 general elections, Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd). Following Buhari’s explanation in an affidavit submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that his certificates were with the military, some critics have been raising the dust, insinuating that the former head of state lied about the schools he attended. Although none of the institutions the APC presidential candidate attended has denied his studentship, Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia, in a profile of the former head of state listed his academic and professional qualifications from schools at home and abroad. According to Wikipedia, Buhari joined the Nigerian Army in 1962, when he attended the Nigerian Military Training College which was renamed the Nigerian Defence Academy, (NDA)), Kaduna, in 1964. From 1962-1963, he un

Boko Haram reportedly seize military base in Borno state

Image
The militant group Boko Haram has seized a town and key multinational military base in north-eastern Nigeria, officials and eyewitnesses say. A senator in Borno state said troops had abandoned the base in the town of Baga after it was attacked on Saturday. Residents of Baga, who fled by boat to neighbouring Chad, said many people had been killed and the town set ablaze. Baga, scene of a Nigerian army massacre in 2013, was the last town in the Borno North area under government control. It hosted the base of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), made up of troops from Nigeria, Chad and Niger. Set up in 1998 to fight trans-border crime in the Lake Chad region, the force more recently took on Boko Haram. Boko Haram attacks towns and villages on an almost daily basis, abducting people including young boys and girls, BBC Africa analyst Mary Harper reports. The military, which includes Western advisers and surveillance, seems incapable of dealing with the pro

Oshiomhole hosted Buhari, Tinubu with N142 million, Edo govt denies claim, says vouchers were forged

Image
All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Gen Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), and National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, have been warned to stop visiting Edo State as the state’s treasury is allegedly depleted anytime they were in town. The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which issued the warning also lambasted Governor Adams Oshiomhole, describing him as financially reckless and wasteful. Edo State chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, spoke on behalf of the party at Igboubazuwa, headquarters of Ovia South West Local Government Area of the state, during a rally organized to welcome defectors from the APC to the PDP. Orbih displayed two Edo State Government vouchers with the following numbers, EXT/GOV/ GHSP/2441/14 and EXT/ GOV/GHSP/2477/14, which, he alleged, were used to sign out the sum of N76 and N66 million respectively for the commissioning of projects on November 28 and 29, 2014. “Governor

DISASTER: Four-storey building collapses in Lagos

Image
Not the real Image A newly constructed four-storey building has collapsed in Lagos. The building which is located on Landpark Street, Coker, Orile, Lagos,  Sunday Sun  gathered, did not claim any casualty as it was said to be vacant at the time it collapsed. Curiously however,  Sunday Sun  learnt that reconstruction work has begun on the site of the collapsed building barely two weeks after it collapsed. A source, who lives on that street and spoke to  Sunday Sun  on the condition of anonymity said: “We were here when the building collapsed right in our presence. In fact, we were made to understand that the owner of the building had been here early today, like two hours before the building collapsed.” Many people have lamented the incident but expressed gratitude to God in the light of the fact that a lot of lives could have been lost had the property been already occupied by tenants. Another source who spoke to Sunday Sun said he was surprised at the hurr
