Finally, there is proof.   A high profile Boko Haram member, who is an officer of Nigeria’s Immigration Services, Ahmed Grema Mohammed, has named some security personnel among those carrying out terrorist attacks in the country. His confession came after he was arrested by the men of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. As many unemployed Nigerians come face to face with the reality of high rate of unemployment, a few others have considered waste as a veritable source of income generation and employment and so, rather than gnashing their teeth, they resort to making a living out of waste managment. In most parts of the country, especially in the major cities, scavenging is a common phenomenon. Unemployed youths comb the streets in the urban areas where there is high level of waste disposal to pick what had been consigned to the bin, sell them to recycling companies and return home happy with a token usually less than N400. From what we gathered, most recycling companies pay not more than N20 for a kilogramme of rubbish in plastic or iron form. Many of the scavengers we ecountered in Lagos who are mainly youths said, “we have to put food on the table, we have to live and care for our families.” That is the situation they found themselves. Mr Iweka Nnamdi, a 32-year-old man, a graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University has been arrested by the Lagos Police command for allegedly blackmailing and extorting money from unsuspecting female victims. How he became radicalised in British varsity Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche, the alleged mastermind of the Nyanya bomb blast is said to have been radicalised while studying at university in South Wales, a report published in Daily Mail Friday revealed. Ogwuche who dubbed himself ‘The Lion of God’ threatened to cut the hands and feet of non-believers while he was living in Britain. The 29-year-old who was said to have escaped to Sudan was declared wanted by security authorities early in the week. AFP) – A Chinese national was killed and 10 others were feared kidnapped after an overnight attack in northern Cameroon believed to have been carried out by Boko Haram militants from Nigeria, a police said on Saturday.  “Boko Haram Islamists attacked a camp (of road workers).
