North's first Thanksgiving! New mom  Kim Kardashian  shared what she's thankful for this Thanksgiving in a sweet message on her  blog  Thursday, Nov. 28. In her special holiday post, Kardashian, 33, included photos of siblings  Kourtney ,  Khloe  and  Rob  with their late father,  Robert Kardashian . "Thanksgiving was the holiday that I always spent with my dad skiing every year in Vail, Colorado since I was 2 years old to 22," she wrote of her dad, who died of esophageal cancer in 2003. "This time of year always brings back such amazing memories. I am thankful I had them. I am so thankful for my family being close and always so supportive." The  Keeping Up With the Kardashians  star also included a special note of thanks to fiance  Kanye West  and their 5-month-old daughter  North West . 409 Nigerians languish In South African prisons

The Nigerian Federal House Committee on Diaspora has described the increasing numbers of Nigerians in foreign prisons as “ridiculously embarrassing”. The Chairman of the committee, Abike Dabiri- Erewa, made this disclosure after the committee’s visit to two prisons in South Africa where 409 Nigerians are being held for various offences. She was accompanied on the visit by, Ajibola Famurewa and Umaru Shinkafi, both members of the committee, consular officers of the Nigerian Embassy, and executives of the Nigerian Union in South Africa. The committee during an interaction with some inmates, were told that although some of them have completed their prison terms,they were being kept in Jail.

Presidential jet not used to ferry Dokubo to Abuja – Abati

The special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati has denied reports that a presidential jet was used to bring Asari Dokubo to Abuja after he was released by Benin Republic police. In an interview in Abuja yesterday, Dr Abati said “There is no truth in the report that a presidential jet was used to convey Asari Dokubo. Again, what we see here is the attempt by people to just tell lies and try to package lies as the truth.

National Identity card to become ATM, travel card

Abuja -  The new national identity card can be used as Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card anywhere there is MasterCard logo in the world, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has said. NIMC’s Director of Technical Services, Mr Emmanuel Ogungbe, told Journalists  on Thursday in Abuja that the commission had already signed an agreement with MasterCard. “As opposed to just being an ID card, the card is also a cash card. What that means is you can also use it the way you currently use your ATM card.

It's hard to believe Beyonce would be kicked out of anything or anywhere, but that's reportedly what happened when an infamous archaeologist booted her from the Egyptian pyramids. Beyonce travelled to Egypt back in 2009 during her I Am... Tour. Shortly after the superstar stopped by the pyramids, she was bashed by Dr. Zahi Hawass, otherwise known as "Egypt's Indiana Jones." The Egyptologist allegedly referred to the "Love On Top" singer as a "stupid person" who "doesn't understand a thing" and only went there to take photos, BET reported at the time, via local newspapers.

BREAKING NEWS: Nigerian government gives ASUU one week ultimatum to call off strike

PremiumTimes Reports The Federal Government on Thursday gave the   Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU,   one week ultimatum to call off the ongoing strike. The acting Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike, stated this while briefing journalists in Abuja. ASUU has been on a nationwide strike since July 1, demanding the government implements a 2009 agreement it had with the union. The lecturers had last week, at the end of the ASUU NEC meeting, resolved to take a definite position on the government’s offer and the strike after meeting President Goodluck Jonathan this week. The meeting is yet to hold.

A 45-year-old farmer, Lawrence Adedapo, is now in Police custody for allegedly forcibly having carnal knowledge of a 75-year-old woman, Grace Asaolu, at Ogbese Camp, Ise-Ekiti in Ise-Orun Local Government Area of Ekiti State. Adedapo was said to have invited the septuagenarian to his house on November 7 this year under the pretext that he brought some plantain from his farm for sale. The accused was said to have taken advantage of the old woman's fragile nature, overpowering her before having carnal knowledge of her. According to the victim, "Lawrence Adedapo is my neighbour. He invited me to come and collect plantain but instead he pushed me on his children's bed and forcefully had carnal knowledge of me. I later rushed to the police station to report the matter."

Asari Dokubo Released By Beninoise Gendarmes, Flown To Abuja

A report according to SaharaReporters : The leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, who was   arrested  yesterday in Cotonou, Benin Republic has been released. Mr.  Dokubo was released after President Goodluck Jonathan personally intervened on his behalf with the Beninoise President Yayi Boni. Festus Keyamo, a civil rights activist and personal attorney to Mr. Dokubo confirmed his release to Saharareporters. Dokubo, who once bragged openly that his arrest will lead to the demise of Nigeria spent 36 hours with the Beninoise gendarmes before his release around 1 AM Nigerian time today. President Jonathan reportedly deployed a jet to ferry Mr. Asari to Abuja a few hours after his release.

Sharia Law: 240,000 Bottles Of Beer Destroyed In Kano By Sharia police

Police enforcing Islamic law in the city of Kano publicly destroyed some 240,000 bottles of beer on Wednesday, the latest move in a wider crackdown on behaviour deemed “immoral” in the area. The banned booze had been confiscated from trucks coming into the city in recent weeks, said officials from the Hisbah, the patrol tasked with enforcing the strict Islamic law, known as sharia. Sharia enforcers called Hisbah destroy thousands of bottles of beer outside northern Nigeria’s largest city of Kano on November 27, 2013. The Hisbah destroyed over 240,000 bottles of beer along with over 8,000 litres of local brew called “Burukutu”. AFP Kano’s Hisbah chief Aminu Daurawa said at the bottle-breaking ceremony he had “the ardent hope this will bring an end to the consumption of such prohibited substances”.
