Biu town in Borno state was attacked by members of Boko Haram this morning. Fortunately, the military was able to repel the attack and kill/arrest many militants. not the real image Hundreds of lawyers on Wednesday embarked on a “Walk for Change” in support of the Muhammadu Buhari and Pro. Yemi Osinbajo presidential ticket. The duo are the All Progressives Congress representatives in the February 14 election. Lead by the National Coordinator of the Lawyers4Change, Adesina Ogunlana, the lawyers walked through some major streets in Ikeja, campaigning for a change of government at the federal level when election holds on February 14. The walk took off from the Bar Centre of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Ikeja, through Oba Akinjobi Way, Oba Akran Road, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Allen Avenue, Toyin Street, Olowu Street and back to the centre. 15 Chadians Boko Haram Fighters Killed As Soldiers Repel Attack On Biu

Fifteen persons suspected to be Chadian nationals  were killed today as members of Boko Haram launched a morning raid on a military barrack in Biu, South of Borno State. A  Biu resident said he counted 15 corpses of the Chadians in front of the military barrack while seven persons were said to have been captured alive by soldiers after they sustained injuries from the gunfight. The number of Boko Haram members killed in the crossfire is yet to be ascertained as the source said there was information that more bodies of more sect members were still being evacuated inside the barrack while the 15 were those killed outside the gate. Gov. Oshiomole kicks out Igbinedion Uni students from state medical facility

Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomole today gave an executive order stopping the training of nursing students from the Igbinedion University at the state owned medical facilities, the Benin General Hospital and the Stella Obasanjo Hospital. According to reports, the governor is angry at the school's management for collecting money from their students and not providing the necessary medical facilities for their training. The students had up until now enjoyed free training at the state owned medical hospitals despite paying huge sums of money to their school for their training. Gov Oshiomole had earlier terminated an agreement with the management of the school to train their medical students at the state's specialist hospital over debts totaling N350million owed the state by the school.

US Explains Increase In Boko Haram Attacks

Marie Harf. The U.S. State Department on Wednesday explained why there has been an upsurge in attacks by Boko Haram insurgents in northern Nigeria recently. According to the spokeswoman of the agency, Marie Harf, Nigeria’s general elections holding in February could be a factor behind the sharp increase in attacks by Boko Haram Islamist militants. Harf, however, stated that the February 14 presidential election should go ahead in spite of the violence which has forced about 20,000 Nigerians to flee to neighbouring countries in recent weeks. “There has been a sharp escalation in the number of reported casualties. “We do believe the election is a factor,’’ Harf told a daily briefing Harf said Boko Haram previously used events such as elections to stir up tensions. Latest report informs that at least one person has been killed in Akwa Ibom state as a result of a political clash between supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and that of the Peoples Democartic Party, PDP. According to Leadership newspaper report online, the clash between supporters of both parties happened on Monday night after a supporter of the APC was allegedly caught removing the campaign posters of a candidate of the PDP. It was disclosed that one person was feared killed and five others injured as a result of the fracas that ensued at the scene. The incident, according to reports, happened along the popular ‘Maitama’ Road leading into the Ewet Housing Estate in Uyo. Yemen’s faction terrorist group al-Qaida on Wednesday claimed responsibility for last week’s massacre at a Paris satirical newspaper, with one of its top commanders saying the assault was in revenge for the weekly’s publications of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, considered an insult in Islam.  Yahoo news report that The claim came in a video posting by Nasr al-Ansi, a top commander of Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, which appeared on the group’s Twitter account. In the 11-minute video, al-Ansi says the assault on Charlie Hebdo, which killed 12 people including editors, cartoonists and journalists, as well as two police officers was in “revenge for the prophet.” He said AQAP, as the branch is known, “chose the target, laid out the plan and financed the operation” against the weekly, though he produced no evidence to support the claim. Robbers Unleashed Terror Attacks Bank In Ikare Ondo State (GRAPHIC PHOTOS)

Armed robbers numbering about 15 have reportedly attacked First Bank in Ikare, Akoko Area of Ondo State. According to Sahara Reporters, the robbers used dynamite to blow up the entrance to the gate of the bank and carted away a yet to be ascertained amount of money. The suspects shot eleven persons, among them four mobile police officers and a young girl. The robbers were said to have escaped through routes leading to Edo State. NFL player Devon Still's 4 year old daughter Leah Still is battling neuroblastoma, a rare pediatric cancer. Beautiful Leah was diagnosed in June 2014 and the Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle has been updating fans on Leah's status via his instagram page. Leah has been undergoing surgery to help fight the disease and after six months of constant treatment, the cancer is sadly still in her body. Devon update fans in a touching message on instagram yesterday; "I wanted to hear so bad that my daughter's cancer was gone and when I didn't it hurt me bad. I couldn't even bring myself to tell my family the results without breaking down. I honestly just wanted to shut down from every one. The Nigerian military have repelled this morning's attack by Boko Haram in Biu, the largest town in Southern Borno state. 5 terrorists and 2 anti-aircraft guns were captured.
