2015: Only prayers can stop doomsday predictions — Christ Embassy

Image
The leadership of the Believers Love World popularly known as Christ Embassy, has said that only prayers can stop the doomsday predictions of violence and bloodbath over the 2015 general elections. It said though the predictions were based on projections and study of utterances by politicians within the polity, the power to change such predictions into positive development belongs to religious groups through prayers to God. The Christ Embassy in Bayelsa State led by Pastor George Bunana, while unveiling activities for the 2014 Reach-Out campaign in Yenagoa, said the annual reach-out campaign by the church was to encourage the culture of prayer and use the word of God to heal Nigeria of security and health infirmities. According to him, the 2014 edition of the Reach Out campaign will witness the reaching out to millions of people with life-transforming word of God as contained in the Rhapsody of Realities and bring hope to the lost, desperate and the dying in the world. ...

Military reclaims Bama after 7 days of capture by BH through a fierce aerial bombardments by the Nigerian Air Force

Image
The Boko Haram insurgents that had taken over Bama town last Monday in Borno state; have Saturday night; fully retreated from the strategic reclaimed town; as fierce aerial bombardments by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets, Military sources confirmed Sunday in Maiduguri, the state capital. One of the sources said that the aerial bombardments to knockout Boko Haram’s weapon installations in the border town had recently overrun; adding that; “our tactical aerial attacks to reclaim this town had been effective and yielding the desired results. This will enable the fleeing residents and villagers to return within the shortest period of time.” “But the weekend battle however took a heavy toll on civilian lives and property as the insurgents were said to be embedded with residents, allegedly used as human shields if the military launches any attack on the occupied town,” said Mustapha Modu, now taking refuge in Maiduguri. On how Bama was reclaimed, the source said: “The first...

My Boko Haram saga, by negotiator Stephen Davis

Image
I first met Dr. Stephen Davis at the American Centre for Strategic and International Studies, Washington, in June 2009. At that time, the Australian was assisting the Federal Government of Nigeria to broker peace with the irate Niger Delta militants, who had taken up arms against the administration and almost rendered its oil-dependent economy comatose through oil theft, destruction of facilities and kidnapping of oil workers. We lost contact until I got to know that he had been involved in the effort to free the Chibok girls. Some other reports claimed he was hired by government to negotiate with Boko Haram. However, in this interview, Davies makes it clear he was never engaged by the Nigerian government to dialogue with the sect. Excerpts of the interview. What do you have to show that you were engaged by the Nigerian government to negotiate with Boko Haram? I was not engaged by the Federal Government of Nigeria, any state government or any other party. I went to Nige...

How SHEKAU went wild, started BEHEADING victims – Boko Haram NEGOTIATOR

Image
Amid the dust raised by his allegation linking a former governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, and an erstwhile Chief of the Army Staff, Lt. General Azubuike Ihejirika, with the sponsorship of Boko Haram, an Australian negotiator, Dr. Stephen Davis, at the weekend, gave insight into how Abubakar Shekau hijacked the Islamist group. “The Boko Haram we see today is not the Jama’atu Ahlul Sunnah Lih Da’awa wal Jihad (JAS) that was operational under Yusuf – former JAS leader killed by the police in 2009”, Davis told Sunday Vanguard in an interview. In the interview conducted online, the negotiator said: “Shekau formed Ansaru which he used for kidnapping and beheading victims. This behaviour was a major departure from the original mandate of the JAS which was to purify Islam and return it to the exemplary life of the Prophet. Many among the JAS leadership are no longer active and others have been killed. This has allowed Shekau to take the JAS to a more extreme action a...

Cardinal Okojie speaks on Chris & Anita Oyakhilome divorce drama, says 'are they true pastors'?

Image
Speaking with a Vanguard reporter recently, Catholic Archbishop Emeritus of Lagos, Anthony Cardinal Okogie, said the drama going on between Pastors Chris and Anita Oyakhilome is disturbing. He said when pastors refuse to honour the vows they took at the altar of God, what do they expect from the ordinary members of their congregation? “When the going was good, they took vows on the altar of God to stay together in sickness and in health, until death do them part. They promise to make one another faithful partner in the presence of God, their family and friends and vow to be each other’s faithful partner in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, and in joy as well as in sorrow. (with their separation ) It shows that they cannot live by what they preach. The Bible says: ‘What God has joined together, let no man put asunder.’ So why are they putting asunder what the good Lord has joined together if they are men of God as they claim?”Okojie said Asked what the develo...
