US nurse sues after being forced into quarantine in New Jersey

Image
A US nurse who works for Doctors Without Borders, has hired a civil rights lawyer to sue after she was forced into quarantine on returning to the US from caring for Ebola victims in Sierra Leone. The US Govt recently started a mandatory 21-day quarantine order for all health workers who arrived back in the US via airports in New York, New Jersey and Chicago, to help stop the spread of Ebola. Kaci Hickox, (pictured above) who was the first person to be placed into the 21 day period of isolation, said she was treated like a 'criminal' after risking her life to volunteer in an Ebola-stricken country. Her lawyer said Kaci's human rights were abused when she was sent to hospital in a protective suit after arriving at New Jersey's Newark Airport. The mandatory quarantine began after a doctor, Craig Spencer who had returned from treating Ebola patients in Guinea tested positive for the virus after spending five days mixing with the public without reali

I am hurt as to why you did not let me know yourself that I have reached the last page of the book of my life. Don’t you think that I should know? You know how ashamed I am that you are sad. Why did you not take the chance for me to kiss your hand and that of dad? The world allowed me to live for 19 years. That ominous night it was I that should have been killed. Wife connives with lover pastor to kill husband in Ebonyi State

Image
A man’s generous donation of one hectare of land to a wolf in sheep clothing, who claimed to be a pastor has led to his untimely death in Ebonyi State. The man, 45-year-old Nwebonyi Nwuguru, a native of Edukwu Inyima town was said to have given the land to the General Overseer of Divine Salvation Ministry, Pastor Amos Odorimo, 45, for the purpose of building a church auditorium. As Sunday Sun learnt, the man’s wife, Roseline, 41, began to attend the church. Nwuguru didn’t initially raise eyebrows over the long hours his wife spent at the church. Somewhere along the line, the pastor opened the door wide for the devil and of course went beyond his pastoral brief. He began to minister to the woman’s body rather than her soul. At the headquarters of the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Ebonyi State Police Command where he and Roseline are being held as investigation into the alleged murder continues, Odorimo spoke with Sunday Sun. “I am married

Catholic Church insists that same-sex marriage is a no no,

Image
The President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, has said that the stand of the church against same sex marriage is unwavering. He, however, said that what the church had said was that while it would not excommunicate the gay community, the church would assist them with prayers and counselling to overcome their abnormal behaviour. Kaigama, who spoke in Jos while briefing newsmen on Sunday on the outcome of the 3rd Extra Ordinary Synod of the Family of the Catholic Church held in Rome recently, said that the outcome of the synod had been given varied interpretation, especially its position on same-sex marriage. According to him, the Church does not condone and has not endorsed same-sex marriage, but considered marriage as a union between a man and a woman for the purpose of raising a family to reflect the teachings of Jesus Christ on the importance of the family as a domestic church. He said, “The concern of the Synod is

FIFA gives Nigeria Monday deadline or face suspension

Image
For the umpteenth time this year the world football governing body, FIFA, has given Nigeria a deadline to avoid suspension from international football. Confederation of African Football President, Issa Hayatou, has warned that Nigeria is in danger of being banned by FIFA by Monday (today) after a court sacked the recently elected Nigeria Football Federation Executive Committee. Indeed, it was explained that the Super Falcons were allowed to play the AWC final match against Cameroon on Saturday after a plea was made to FIFA executives led by Sepp Blatter. Last Thursday, the Federal High Court sitting in Jos gave a ruling setting aside the NFF elections of September 30 in Warri which had ushered in the new Exco. The court ruling has angered FIFA officials who had warned that the country would be banned if there were any further interference from any civil court on purely football matters. Hayatou told the Minister of Sports Dr. Tammy Danagogo in Windhoek, Namibia th
