A heartbroken mum has pleaded for the help of Chelsea fans in finding her missing son - who vanished 11 months ago - after she 'spotted' him in the crowd at Stamford Bridge. Lesley Edwards, 54, has been desperately searching for Jon Anderson Edwards after he disappeared without a trace while working in Lagos, Portugal, in September 2014. The chef, originally from Arbroath, Scotland, suffered head injuries in a fall and the 31-year-old then failed to turn up for work. His friends later discovered he had left his clothes, passport and phone in his apartment and a police search in both Portugal and the UK has so far drawn a blank But Lesley, who initially travelled to Lagos to search for Jon, believes she may have spotted her son among Chelsea supporters in a picture taken at a recent game. The pastor in-charge, Pentecostal Power and Authority Ministry Worldwide, Mr Kayode Oladoyinbo, and his wife, Christian, are locked in a bitter divorce battle after 11 years of marriage. The union is blessed with three children, aged 11, 9 and 6, respectively. Asking an Ojo, Lagos Customary Court to dissolve the marriage, Christian accused her husband of frequent beatings, cruelty, illegal summoning and arrests, lack of care and stealing of the church funds as reasons she wants a divorce. Accepting the divorce claim instituted by his wife, Kayode said he was fed up with the marriage, accusing the wife of wickedness. Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni A gruesome attack on a 33-year-old bus trader, Dennis Nwaize, has landed two of his colleagues, Felicia Emmanuel and Victor John, in the custody of the Department of Criminal Investigation, Lagos after a fight over whose turn it was to hawk inside a particular vehicle. Saturday PUNCH learnt Nwaize was stabbed with a knife that tore his belly, spilling out his intestines. Police investigators at the DCI, told our correspondent that on July 5, 2015, 27-year-old John, who works for Emmanuel as a salesman, went to Ibadan to join a luxury bus coming to Lagos as they usually do, in order to advertise and sell her herbal products to passengers while in transit. According to the traders, they have a schedule with the bus operators on which of them should join specific buses daily. But on that particular day, John was reportedly ejected from the bus at Ibadan, as the driver said he was not the trader on the schedule.

Army deserter uses Boko Haram guns to rob in Bayelsa

An army deserter, identified as Presido Yenabo, has been apprehended for armed robbery in Bayelsa State. Yenabo, who claimed to have deserted the army after he was posted to Maiduguri to fight insurgency, said the rifles the police caught him with were stolen from the camp of Boko Haram insurgents. The runaway soldier, from Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State was arrested alongside an accomplice, 22-year-old ThankGod Victor, a native of Ogoni in Rivers State. The suspects were arrested along the Sani Abacha Way in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital. The 28-year-old deserter, who was among scores of suspects paraded by the Bayelsa State Police Command recently, said he abandoned his military duties in Borno because he had problems with his hearing. Following arrests made by the police in Asaba, Delta State Police Command last week Saturday as they raided a baby factory behind the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, the suspects have spoken with journalists, explaining the reason behind their involvement. The police rescued eight pregnant girls and arrested the operator and two other boys. The suspects are now at the Department of Criminal Investigations. One of the girls, Ihezue (19), who said she is from Imo State, explained that poverty and lack of care pushed her into the business. She said life had been difficult for her. “I was looking for work and my brother brought me to Asaba and I was introduced to the operator who offered me job in his proposed polythene producing factory located in Asaba. The Director-General of the National Centre for Women Development, NCWD, Onyeka Onwenu on Friday refused to honour the invitation of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, over an alleged N17 million contract bribe. An insider at the ICPC headquarters in Abuja told Leadership that the NCWD DG declined to appear before the anti-corruption agency because she had to attend to a health challenge. However, the chairman of the ICPC is believed to be ready to explore all options, including giving Onwenu a new date in order to ensure that she answers her part in the whole 17 million naira bribery allegation. “In line with our investigations into the alleged 17 million bribery for the contract at the NCWD, we decided it was high time we summoned the DG to say her part of the story. 8 year old Kaleem suffers from a rare medical condition called macrodactyly, that means he has giant-sized hands. He's been excluded from school and cast out in his local village in India because he is believed to be "the child of the devil". Kaleem's own uncle believes that because his mother visited latrines when she was pregnant with Kaleem that it could have infected him with "demons".   A Channel 5 documentary titled 'The Boy with the Giant Hands', follows Kaleem and his family as they prep for life-changing surgery. The horrific and unfortunate accident happened on August 6th around 6pm at Ubulu Oki ti Junction in Aniocha South LGA of Delt a state. A driver of a commercial bus carrying 14 passengers lost control on the highway  as he was trying to avoid a towing van which entered the highway without caution. The bus, carrying mostly students, and traveling from  Asaba to Agbor , unfortunately ran into a stationed trailer p arked beside the Express way  as he made to avoid the towing van. Of all 15 people in the bus, only 2 survived and are in critical condition at the hospital. The photos after the cut are really horrific so v iewer discretion is seriously advised...

Photos: Powerful typhoon hits Taiwan. 6 dead, over a 100 seriously injured

At least six people have been confirmed dead, four missing and over sixty seriously injured when Typhoon Soudelor hit Taiwan early this morning Saturday August 8th. Taiwan Power, the island's main power company, said 2.94 million households are currently without power. Hundreds of flights have been delayed or cancelled, according to Taiwan authorities. Thousands of people were evacuated as the storm approached and the island's military put tens of thousands of troops and thousands of vehicles on stand-by for rescue operations. The storm made landfall early in the morning on the island's east-coast counties of Yilan and Hualien, bringing up to 1,000 mm (39 inches) of rain in mountainous northeastern areas and wind gusting up to 200 kph (124mph).
