Anybody Found With Biafran Flag Will Be Arrested – Nigerian Police

A bia State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Anthony Ogbizi has warned that anybody found with Biafra emblem will be arrested and charged to court. Ogbizi who stated this while parading 7 suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, explained that with the proscription of the group by the South East governors, it has becomes illegal for anyone to operate under IPOB or adorn Biafra emblems. He lamented that one of the injured officers, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, serving at the Ariaria Police Station has died out of the injuries he sustained during the attack. IPOB: Nnamdi Kanu's lawyer dismisses military, South-east governors' declarations

I feanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has criticised the Nigerian Army for branding it a terror group. He said the declaration was like ”a building not laid upon any foundation.”  The Nigerian Army had in a statement signed by the Director of Defense Information, John Enenche on Friday given five reasons for the declaration of IPOB as a terrorist group. The military cited the following as its reasons for placing the terrorist tag on IPOB: formation of a Biafra Secret Service; formation of the Biafra National Guard; unauthorised blocking of public access roads; extortion of money from innocent civilians at illegal roadblocks; militant possession and use of weapons (stones, Molotov cocktails, machetes and broken bottles among others) on a military patrol on 10 September 2017; physical confrontation of troops by Nnamdi Kanu and other IPOB actors at a checkpoint on 11 September 2017 and also attempts to snatch the

Zamfara Eze Igbo Lauds Ban On IPOB

T he Eze Igbo in Zamfara state, Igwe Egbuna Obijiaku, has commended the South East Governor’s Forum for banning the activities of the Independent Peoples of Biafra (IPOB). Mr. Obijiaku, who gave the commendation on Saturday while speaking to newsmen in Gusau , said that Igbos in Zamfara were not in support of the activities of IPOB. He urged the Igbo community in the state to disregard the Biafra agitation by members of the IPOB. IPOB: Obasanjo backs Buhari meeting with Kanu

F ormer President Olusegun Obasanjo has endorsed a possible meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and leader of the Indigenous People of Biaria (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu. He gave this indication in an interview with Newsweek magazine published in the United States. “I don’t see anything wrong in that [Buhari meeting with Kanu]. I would not object to that; if anything, I would encourage it,” Obasanjo said in response to a question on the agitation for Biafra that has become violent with the military called in to quell the situation. “I would want to meet Kanu myself and talk to people like him, people of his age, [and ask:] ‘What are your worries?’ Not only from the southeast but from all parts of Nigeria.” Obasanjo said that the response of the army response to the pro-Biafra sentiment is “not the solution,” but adds that the secession craved by IPOB is not the way forward either.
