Armed Nigerian Pirates Captured in Ghana(Photos)

Image
The Ghana Navy on Saturday captured eight pirates involved in the hijacking of a crude oil tanker on the high seas. The pirates were armed but no one, including a nine-member crew aboard MT Mariam, was injured when the Ghana Navy crew aboard GNS Blika effected the arrest 26 nautical miles south east of Tema after the ship had drifted into Ghanaian waters. The owner of MT Mariam, Mr Nakase Sunday told journalists in Tema that the hijacking occurred at 5:00 am on January 11, 2014 at Warri in Nigeria, adding that the vessel contains approximately 1,500 metric tomes of crude oil when it was captured by the pirates. The hijackers seized the vessel and allegedly drained it of its oil.   Mr. Nakase said the ship was en route to Togo when it was captured. He said he immediately flew into Ghana last Friday after he had detected via a tracking system that the ship had drifted into the Ghanaian waters and quickly approached the Ghana Navy for assistance. ...

Read The Statement By The Petroleum Minister On The Pump Fuel Price Reduction

Image
What Diezani Alison-Madueke said this evening as she announced a reduction in fuel price... As you may be aware, there has been a lot of volatility in the oil market in the past few months and due to this the importation prices of our petroleum products have been impacted. Therefore, with the approval and directive of Mr. President and by virtue of Section 6 clause 1 of the Nigerian Petroleum Act, it is my responsibility as Minister of Petroleum Resources to hereby announce a reduction in the pump price of Petroleum Motor Spirit (Petrol) from the current Ninety Seven Naira (=N=97) per litre pump price down to Eighty Seven Naira (=N87=) per litre pump price, effective from twelve (12) midnight Sunday, 18th  of January 2015. Accordingly, I have directed the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) to ensure strict compliance of this price adjustment by all marketing companies. It is my hope that...

British-Nigerian narrates how she was turned back from London club

Image
British-Nigerian lady Fisayo Longe who is a stylist, fashion and travel blogger took to her  blog  to tell a story of how she was turned back from Libertine Club London - maybe because of her skin colour. A night club expert said many West End nightclubs are racist against Black and Asian people and secretly operate a ‘No Blacks Allowed’ policy. They allow in "token" number of blacks so that they are not accused of being racists but the rest will be turned away with flimsy excuses. In a post titled 'Libertine Club London - An Abusive Experience', Fisayo writes her experience;   " I don’t go clubbing often. I would much rather spend my money on Balenciaga than a £300 bottle of vodka but that’s just my preferred lifestyle as a fashion victim. Don’t get me wrong- I love a good night out. I will never forget my friend’s 21st at Liv in Miami with DJ Ruckus on the decks or my 21st at VIP Room in Paris when the DJ somehow figured out we were Nig...

Idriss Deby of Chad dispatches troops to capture Nigeria’s Baga without GEJ's permission

Image
Article written by Dr. Peregrino Brimah of Ends.ng That there is a vacuum in Nigeria’s leadership is not in dispute; however the recent declaration by the president of Chad, Idriss Deby compounds Nigeria’s delicate situation and threatens the nation’s sovereign integrity. As reported by the AFP in an article of January 17, 2015, captioned “Thousands see off Chadian troops to fight Boko Haram,” Idriss Deby the authoritarian leader of Chad, Nigeria’s north eastern neighbor, said “in a speech read by the speaker of parliament that the new deployment (of Chadian troops to Cameroon) aimed to recapture Baga.” Cameroon had requested for and welcomed the deployment that saw 400 Chadian military vehicles arrive in Cameroon. [AFP] However Nigeria was not invited to the table. Nigeria’s military leadership as quoted by the AFP are “lukewarm.” The word is defined by Google dictionary thus: “(of a person, attitude, or action) unenthusiastic.” Nigeria’s military spokesperson, GEN Olu...

BREAKING NEWS: Nigerian Government Reduces Fuel Price

Image
The Nigerian government has announced a reduction in the fuel price of petrol from N97 per litre to N87 per litre. The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, said at an ongoing press conference at the presidential villa, Abuja, that the new price regime would take effect immediately. Mrs. Alison-Madueke said the N10 reduction in fuel price was necessitated by the reduction in crude oil prices in the international market. The new measure is a reversal of government’s policy on the matter. The Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, had insisted on December 17 that Nigeria would  not reduce the pump price of fuel despite falling oil prices at the international market, until the revenue crisis occasioned by the dwindling oil rates is over. Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala said at the time that the decision to review fuel price either upwards or downwards would only be taken after the current crisis in global oil prices had been settled. But five days ago...

N25bn PTF fraud: OBJ covering up for Buhari —PDP

Image
THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation has accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of deliberately covering up for All Progressives Congress (APC), Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) by not acting on the Dr Haroun Adamu-led Interim Management Committee that probed the Buhari-led Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) and found about N25 billion belonging to the fund unaccounted for. According to a statement issued by the Director-General of the organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode in Abuja on Saturday, it disagreed with the clean bill of health given to Buhari as the chief executive of PTF by Obasanjo. The campaign organisation said that by saying that there was nothing amiss in the financial transactions in the PTF, Obasanjo was only trying to cover up the presidential candidate of the APC. The statement said: “We believe that one of the cardinal principles of democracy, good governance and decency is to always set the record straig...

Pope hugs little girl who asked him why God allows little girls become prostitutes

Image
Pope Francis who is currently in the Philippines was moved to hug these two children after one of them, 12 year old Glyzelle Palomar, a rehabilitated homeless girl, asked him in tears why God could allow children to become prostitutes.  "Many children get involved in drugs and prostitution. Why does God allow these things to happen to us? The children are not guilty of anything.” Palomar said during her speech at a Catholic mass Pope Francis who couldn't find an immediate answer for her question, got up and gave a hug. He later replied her and the congregation saying “She is the only one who has put forward a question for which there is no answer and she was not even able to express it in words but rather in tears. I invite each one of you to ask yourselves, 'Have I learned how to weep, how to cry when I see a hungry child, a child on the street who uses drugs, a homeless child, an abandoned child, an abused child, a child that society uses as a slav...
