Buhari meets with Osinbajo, service chiefs behind closed doors

P resident Muhammadu Buhari held a brief meeting with Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, service chiefs and heads of other security agencies, following his arrival from London on Saturday. The closed-door meeting was held at the president’s official residence inside the Aso Rock Presidential Villa. Journalists and other government officials were denied access to the venue for the entire duration of the meeting. A number of youths, who attempted to make their way into the Presidential Villa to welcome the president, were also barred by security operatives. Buhari returned to Abuja today, after over 100 days in the UK on medical vacation.

P resident Muhammadu Buhari returns to the country later today, after receiving medical attention in London. The President had left the country on May 7, this year, after handing over power to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who has functioned as Acting President since then. President Buhari is expected to speak to Nigerians in a broadcast by 7 a.m on Monday, August 21, 2017. He thanks all Nigerians who have prayed ceaselessly for his recovery and well-being since the beginning of the health challenge. Nnamdi Kanu Chickened Out, As IPOB Withdraws Threat To Boycott Anambra Election After Meeting Igbo Leaders

T he Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has withdrawn its order to their members and general public to boycott the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State.The decision was reached after the IPOB leader Maxi Nnamdi Kanu attended a meeting organised by a non-governmental organisation, the Ala-Igbo International Foundation. Leader of the foundation, Professor Uzodinma Nwala, says after much deliberations which they say is still ongoing, IPOB has assured the Igbo leaders that it won’t disrupt the November 18 governorship election. People who are eligible to vote have also been told to go out and exercise their franchise without fear of molestation.
