A young man who was drinking and celebrating the Fourth of July tried to launch a firework off the top of his head, fatally injuring himself, authorities said Sunday. Devon Staples and his friends had been drinking and setting off fireworks Saturday night in the backyard of a friend's home in the small eastern Maine city of Calais, said Stephen McCausland, a spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety. Staples, 22, of Calais, placed a fireworks mortar tube on his head and set it off, he said. The firework exploded, killing Staples instantly, McCausland said. His death is the first fireworks fatality in Maine since the state legalized fireworks on Jan. 1, 2012, authorities said. Calais is on the Canadian border near New Brunswick. State fire marshals were also investigating several other Fourth of July fireworks accidents involving injuries in Friendship, Jefferson, Lebanon and Woodstock. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has terminated the appointment of the Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi. Presidency has denied any affinity between, Zahra, the daughter of President Mohammadu Buahri and an alleged comment from a Twitter handle which made uncomplimentary posts about her “making” some foreign leaders. Emanating from a handle @Zahra_Buhari, the tweet is feared to have raised a diplomatic row between Nigeria and her friendly states. Former Oceanic Bank MD Cecilia Ibru lost her son Rode Ibru recently. Rode, a filmmaker, died in June and was buried two days ago. His brother Obaro Ibru & friends announced his passing on social media, eulogizing the man they called an amazing individual but they didn't say how he died. Not the real image A bomb explosion suspected to be from a male suicide bomber has killed six persons including the bomber. The blast occurred at a local branch of Redeemed Christian Church of God along Bauchi road in Potiskum Town, Yobe State. A resident of the town who is also one of the officials working with the aid agencies informed PREMIUM TIMES that the bomb went off at a time worshipers were observing the Sunday service. The resident said “six persons died” from the blast. The Police have also confirmed that six people died from the explosion. The Police Public Relations Officer in Yobe, Toyin Gbadegesin, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Damaturu that the dead included the suicide bomber. “A male suicide bomber detonated a bomb at Redeemed Church at Jigawa area of Potiskum, killing five on the spot,” Mr. Gbadegesin said. “A female member of the church who sustained injuries also died while receiving treatment in the hospital.” He said the injured are
