The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has prevented a food vendor in Lagos, Chinelo Okorom Lynnette, 36, from smuggling 685 grammes of cocaine inserted in her vaginal. Anti-narcotic operatives apprehended her at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos during inward screening of passengers on an Ethiopian airline flight from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Ebola virus disease (EVD) has started to spread in Africa after its outbreak earlier this year in forested areas in southeastern part of Guinea. Reports said those infected remained undiagnosed for months until the Ministry of Health of Guinea took a move alerting the World Health Organization (WHO) about the outbreak. WHO, in its press release, published on March 23 a total of 49 cases, including 29 deaths, have been recorded as of March 22. The numbers increased in the span of weeks as EVD caused 83 deaths and 127 confirmed cases as of April 3 and spreading not only in Guinea but also Liberia and Sierra Leone. Now, several cases are  observed in Mali and Ghana. The EVD outbreak begins to create panic to different parts of Africa. Search teams are racing against the clock to find the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 as the window for finding one of the black boxes with an active power source gets progressively smaller. Australia’s defence minister, David Johnston, said on Tuesday that a spell of “reasonable” weather in the Indian Ocean search area meant the sea and air search teams would be stepping up their efforts in the next few days. On Monday the Australian vessel Ocean Shield detected two separate pulses in the Indian ocean search area consistent with signals emitted by a black box. The first lasted two hours and 20 minutes and the second 13 minutes.

A 34-year-old man, Sikiru Yusuf, has been arrested for allegedly killing an undergraduate of Kwara State Polytechnic in the Orile area of Lagos State. PUNCH Metro learnt that Yusuf allegedly killed Kazeem Bamgboye, on July 13, 2012 around Doyin Bus Stop. Yusuf allegedly fled the area after the murder and was subsequently declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command.

Former Oyo State Governor Rasheed Ladoja, some serving Senators, members of the National Conference who were returning to Abuja yesterday were among those onboard an Overland aircraft with registration Number 5NBPE that had to make a quick detour after the pilot noticed a crack on the windshield of the aircraft. The aircraft took off from Ibadan Airport in Oyo state and was heading to Abuja when the pilot noticed a cracked windshield as they entered into Minna, Niger state airspace. Continue...

On March 31th, passengers on an Arik flight from Lagos to New York were subjected to hardship as there was almost an hour flight delayed departure plus the airplane's air condition was not working, leading to passengers protesting on board. A 30-year-old student of the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, Auwal Haruna, allegedly committed suicide on Monday by hanging himself on the ceiling fan in his hotel room in Takum. The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Joseph Kwaji, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Jalingo on Monday, saying the matter was under investigation. According to him, the body of the deceased was found dangling from a ceiling fan at Mairiga Guest Inn, Takum. He said the deceased, until his death, was a suspect in a case of murder involving his younger brother, Ahmed, who allegedly connived with their mother, Aisha, to murder their father, Haruna Mohammed.
