Order 9 (3) also came under scrutiny by a delegate who argued that every delegate who has an issue to raise should be allowed to do so through a motion. Mr. Chairman said Section 39 of the Constitution guarantees the right to Freedom of Expression and the Rules will violate the rights of the delegates. After an exhaustive debate, the Chairman put the question and Rules 1 and 2 contained in Order 9 were deleted from book.

A section of the office of Governor Ibikunle Amosun at Okemosan, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, southwest Nigeria, was gutted by fire Monday. The fire destroyed computers and other office equipment. But for the timely intervention of the men of the Fire Service, the incident would have caused a major havoc. The incident, which occurred at about 12 noon affected the old Protocol Officers’ office on the first floor of the Governor’s Office. It caused panic among workers who started shouting and running away from their offices.

The last faint hopes of finding survivors from the missing  Malaysia Airlines plane were extinguished on Monday, when the Malaysian prime minister announced that flight MH370 had been lost in the southern Indian Ocean. Najib Razak's statement followed more than two weeks of anguish for the families of the 239 on board and a massive international hunt for any trace of the plane. He said new analysis of satellite data showed that the last known position of the Boeing 777 was over a remote area of the southern Indian Ocean, far from any possible landing sites.  

Delegates to the ongoing National Conference on Monday in Abuja queued for about two hours before gaining entrance into the conference hall, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports. Some of the delegates who commented on the development, expressed displeasure over the discomfort they were subjected to and urged the secretariat to intervene to prevent a reoccurrence.   Some of the delegates, including Mr. Issa Aremu, Mr. Dan Iwuanyuanwu and Chief Femi Falana (SAN), drew the attention of the Chairman, Justice Idris Kutigi (rtd), to the plight of the delegates.

The National Conference will resume plenary sitting on Monday after delegates went on a three-day break to study the working documents that would guide their deliberations. Faith-based prayers have also been ruled out of the conference. President Goodluck Jonathan had on Monday inaugurated the 492-member Conference and charged it with the responsibility of finding solutions to some of the major problems affecting the country.   After holding a brief plenary session on Tuesday, delegates to the conference moved to adjourn sitting till all the working documents were supplied to them by the secretariat.

Human skeletons, body parts, decomposing bodies, skulls and bones on bloodstained floors were discovered at an abandoned building in Soka, Oluyole LGA of Oyo State yesterday March 22nd. The bodies are believed to be unfortunate victims of ritual killing. Police officers also rescued about seven people who were chained together in leg-irons and looked emaciated. (The old woman pictured above was one of those rescued yesterday). Containers containing human parts were also discovered in the bush surrounding the building. It is believed that people go to the place in the dead of the night to buy human parts. The abandoned house of horror was discovered after Okadamen in Ibadan discovered that some of their colleagues had gone missing...especially when they took passengers to that area.
