Statistic prove that about 1% of school dropouts become millionaires, however why it is so, little is known.  Lots of young men and women read and fantasize about rich men all around the world decide who quit school to become billionaires and are motivated to follow the same route. What they fail to know is many have attempted this same route and ended up washed out. Looking at Nigeria, here are some factors which could explain why dropouts rarely make it. A group of ex-militants in the Niger Delta, led by Government Ekpemopulo (aka Tompolo), on Friday met in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, and threatened war over what they described as coordinated attacks on the campaign team of President Goodluck Jonathan in some Northern States. The group vowed to resort to violence and engage in armed confrontation with anyone or group plotting to derail Mr. Jonathan’s second term ambition. The naira, on Friday, depreciated against the dollar as it traded at N208 from the N191.50 it sold for on Monday, January 19. (it's about N215 as of today) The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the new rate had made the naira to lose N16.50 within five days. The CBN’s website, however, put the naira against the dollar at N167.50, while the pound sold for N253.20 and the euro stood at N193.89.  he development has resulted into speculation in the market and caused ripple effects on other currencies. NAN correspondent who visited some bureau de change and black market operators in Lagos said that they could not give rates to the pound sterling and the euro. Dealers who preferred anonymity said that there was scarcity of dollars in circulation. They said that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had stopped selling forex to the bureaux de change since last year. Political thugs, suspected to be working for the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State, invaded the venue of the All Progressives Congress governorship rally in Okrika Local Government Area in early hours of Saturday, destroying equipment being st up for the exercise. The armed youths, according to the APC Chairman in Okrika, Mr. Christian Asifamaka, shot sporadically at about 3.45am at the venue of the party’s governorship campaign. Asifamaka said in a statement that the hoodlums threw dynamites into the National School Field venue of the rally in Okrika, destroyed the podium already set up for the programme and other facilities in the arena. Islamic State have reportedly released an audio video announcing the execution of one of the two Japanese hostages who were being held by the extremist group. The video, which is nearly three minutes long, consists of a still photo of captured Japanese journalist Kenji Goto, holding an alleged photograph showing the beheaded corpse of his fellow hostage, Haruna Yukawa. According to International Business Times,In the video, Goto is allegedly recorded speaking in English, claiming  that his captors are no longer demanding the $200m (£133.4m) ransom and are now calling for a prisoner swap. Islamic State are demanding the release of failed female suicide bomber Sajida Mubarak al-Rishawi, who attempted to blow herself up as part of the 2005 Amman bombings in Jordan. Reason: Their 72-yr-old grand mother, Modupe Obafemi, who was declared missing a fortnight ago, has been found. The grandmother, from Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, was said to have been found in Lagos at Wilmer area of Ajegunle after being thrown out of a moving vehicle with bruises on her body last Sunday. Also, a ‘good Samaritan’ was said to have saved this grandmother from being lynched by a mob who suspected her to be a witch, a kidnapper or a mad person. On noticing that her life was in danger, the grandmother raised the alarm in Ekiti dialect which attracted a passers by who happened to be an Ekiti man. ‘’I am neither mad nor am I a witch but I need your assistance to locate my children. Less than two weeks after visiting Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, President Goodluck Jonathan will visit the state again today to campaign for next month’s election. It would be recalled Jonathan’s visit to Maiduguri on January 15, 2015, was to show support for Nigerian soldiers serving in the state in commemoration with the Armed Forces Remembrance Day. The President had been criticised in recent times for not visiting the Boko Haram insurgency-ridden state.
