Eunice Olawale’s burial earlier today was attended by her husband, seven children, and numerous members of her family as well as a long line of dignitaries, SaharaReporters and authoritatively report. It will be recalled that Mrs. Olawale, a female preacher, was murdered by Islamic fanatics and has captured the attention of the Nigerian public. Many of those in attendance were dressed in immaculate light blue and gathered at the Redeemed Christian Church of God. Update on the rescued malnourished 9-year-old boy found chained in a church

Officers from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on Friday rescued a nine-year-old boy named Taiwo Korede, who had been chained for weeks in a 'Celestial Church of Christ key of Joy Parish Ajiwo', located at Ajibawo in Ado - Odo, Ota division 2, Ogun State. The case has since been transfered to the appropriate authority for further investigation and he has been taken to the hospital. More photos below 

Mastermind of deceptive planned overthrow of Buhari arrested

The Department of State Services has arrested one Jones Abari, aka Gen. Akotebe Darikoro, for the alleged mastermind of a hoaxed plan to overthrow President Muhammad Buhari by the military. A statement issued by an official of the service, Mr Tony Opuiyo, in Abuja on Saturday said Abari was arrested in Yenagoa on July 21. Opuiyo described the suspect as the leader of the Joint Revolutionary Council of the Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force. He said that Abari had confessed to other criminal activities which included a threat to launch missile attacks on selected targets in Abuja and Aso Rock. Others include writing threat messages to the management of the Nigeria Agip Oil Company and the Shell Petroleum Development Company demanding for N500m and N250m respectively. CBN directs banks to sell forex to BDCs

The Central Bank of Nigeria has directed agent banks to approved international money transfer operators to sell foreign currency accruing from inward money remittances to licenced Bureau De Change operators. The directive is in a circular with reference number, “TED/FEM/ FPC/GEN/01/004, dated July 22, 2016 and posted on its Website’’. The circular by the Acting Director, Trade and Exchange Department, Mr W.D. Gotring, is part of efforts to ensure the stability of the Naira exchange rate. It also said that the decision was to encourage all critical stakeholders to participate in the foreign exchange market. The circular said that all international money transfer operators would be required to remit foreign currency to agent banks for disbursement in Naira to beneficiaries. The federal government vowed that the killers of the Ekiti-State-born preacher with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Evangelist, Eunice Elisha Olawale, in Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory will not go unpunished. President Muhamadu Buhari, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal, made the promise during the burial service held in RCCG FCT 2 Provincial Headquarters in Kubwa. The 42-year-old mother of seven was murdered while preaching in the Gbazango -West area of Kubwa, a satellite town, in the Bwari Area Council on Saturday, July 9 2016. Meanwhile, tears flowed on Saturday at the Gudu Cemetery in the FCT, where the deceased was buried. 9 year old boy chained, tortured by Celestial Church Of Christ in Ogun State

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Saturday said it rescued a nine-year old boy, who was chained for weeks by a church in Ogun State. The NSCDC said in a statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES on Saturday that Taiwo Korede was on Friday rescued from the Celestial Church of Christ (Key of Joy Parish, Ajiwo) at Ajibawo in Ado Odo/Ota local government area of Ogun State. The statement said Master Korede was rescued while in chains, and that the case had been transferred to the appropriate authority for further investigation. Three photographs, including one showing an emaciated Master Korede in chains, were attached to the one-paragraph statement the NSCDC sent to this newspaper. Update: Congolese musician Koffi Olomide has been deported from Kenya

Thank you, Kenya! Congolese musician Koffi Olomide was  on Saturday  morning deported to Congo. He was sent back to his home country via a Kenya Airways flight that left the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at  11:35am , after he spent the night in a police cell. The 60-year-old Congolese musician was arrested for viciously kicking one of his female dancers in the belly for arguing with his wife at the Airport. Police Inspector General Joseph Boinnet ordered for his arrest after a video which showed the assault went viral and was brought to his attention.

Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo warns that the brutality of his people is becoming too much. Tompolo said the agents have treated his 84-year-old father roughly in Kurutie community, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government. According to The Vanguard, the brutal treatment meted to his father resulted in the amputation of his lower limbs, two weeks ago. Tompolo made the disclosure in an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, which he indicated might be his last. He said the continuous harassment and intimidation was getting out of hand, and he does not deserve it. A former Senator and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Iyiola Omisore, was on Friday night released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after he agreed to refund the over N1.3billion he allegedly received from the office of the National Security Adviser, people familiar with the matter have told PREMIUM TIMES. The EFCC arrested Mr. Omisore in Abuja on July 3 for allegedly collecting the huge funds from a former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki. The former NSA is being prosecuted for allegedly mismanaging billions of dollars meant to procure arms and ammunition for the Nigerian military which has in the past five years been battling a deadly insurgency in the North-East of Nigeria.
