Kent Brantly US doctor who survived Ebola speaks, leaves hospital

Dr. Kent Brantly, the US doctor cured of Ebola left the Emory University Hospital Atlanta about an hour ago. Before leaving, he spoke at a news conference, telling reporters that he's thrilled to be alive "Today is a miraculous day. I’m thrilled to be alive, to be well and to be reunited with my family.  "I cannot thank you enough for your prayers and your support, but what I can tell you is that I serve a God who answers prayers. God saved my life, a direct answer to thousands and thousands of prayers. Thank you to the Liberia community, Emory hospital and so many of you, my family, friends and church family. After months of reports that Beyonce's marriage to Jay Z could be on the rocks, the Crazy In Love hitmaker's mother has spoken out. Tina Knowles told TMZ that the couple's marriage was 'perfect' as she left a lunch date at Via Allogro on Wednesday, reportedly after meeting her daughter's former bandmate Kelly Rowland. The 60-year-old was heard saying: 'Haters are going to hate, there's nothing we can about that. Everything's perfect', when appraoched about the couple. The outspoken star kept her black sunglasses on as she chatted to the reporter, while dressed in a bright blue jumper and cropped leggings.   Her comments comes just a day after it was alleged that Beyonce was taking notes on how to best 'consciously uncouple' from her rapper partner of six years. Emmanuel Onu (pictured above) was the only person who died in the Lagos boat explosion which happened on Friday August 15th. The boat, belonging to Aquitien Oil and Gas, was said to have taken off from V-Craft Jetty in Lekki and was heading towards Apapa be­fore it exploded around Walter Carrington Way, trapping all 10 persons on board. 9 people were injured and taken to different hospitals in Lagos The Public Relations Of­ficer of the National Emer­gency Management Agen­cy (NEMA) said the boat engine exploded while it was trying to refill gasoline at Capital Oil Jetty at Victoria Island. Emmanuel's body was recovered from the water shortly after the accident. His service of songs will hold today around 5 at his Lagos residence. He will be buried tomorrow Aug. 22nd at Atan Cemetery in Yaba, Lagos.

An unattended Peugeot 406 parked in the middle of the road in Nyanya, Abuja caused panic in the area this morning. Thankfully no bomb was detected in the parked car and normalcy has return to the area. (pictured above).

ACP Frank Mba bows out as Police Public Relations Officer

ACP Frank Mba has bowed out as the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Police Force. In a letter of appreciation he sent out this morning, Mr  Mba expressed his gratitude to the media and the Nigerian people for contributing to his successful tenure. Mba, who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Police Commissioner in June, has been redeployed to Lagos State Command as an Area Commander, Area J. He is expected to hand over to the new Public Relations officer, DCP Emmanuel Ojukwu later today

Fake soldier granted interview to BBC - DHQ says

On Tuesday August 19th, a Nigerian soldier spoke with the BBC explaining why himself and some other soldiers refused the order from their superiors to go fight Boko Haram insurgents. He alleged that they were not provided good weapons and ammunition and so gave Boko Haram the upper hand during any battle because the militants are more well equipped (read that  here ). Now the Defence Headquarters says the man who spoke with BBC is an impostor. Their statement below That degree of cowardice is not in the character of a real soldier of the Nigerian Army.  The series of lies contained in the alleged responses of the faceless person referred to as a soldier confirms the whole arrangement as another step of the mischief makers working for terrorists.  No soldier has been sent on any mission without being armed. THE POWER OF ZMAPP: US doctor with Ebola to be released from hospital today

Dr Kent Brantly, the American doctor who contracted the deadly Ebola virus in Liberia while working as a missionary in the country will be released from Atlanta's Emory University Hospital today August 21st after being successful treated. According to the spokesperson of the hospital, Vince Dollard, Dr. Kent's blood samples came back negative for the virus after undergoing proper screening for two days. Dr. Kent is expected to give a statement regarding his discharge later today at a news conference before leaving the hospital. Dr. Kent and another US missionary Nancy Writebol contracted the disease while working to fight the outbreak in Liberia. After they contracted the disease they were taken to an isolation unit at Emory University Hospital, where they were treated with the experimental drug, ZMapp.

Pandemonium broke out this morning in the Nyanya area of Abuja, after a Peugeot 406 car suspected to be laden with explosives was found parked in the middle of the road, causing motorist & passersby to run in different directions fearing that the car might explode "The driver just parked the car and left in a hurry prompting soldiers nearby to be suspicious and people in traffic on seeing the soldiers surrounding the car began to run in different directions" A commercial motorcyclist told Premium Times Soldiers are currently carrying out a thorough search of the car

Liberian soldiers opened fire on residents of a slum in their country's capital city today after it was locked down in an effort to contain the spread of Ebola virus.
