The funeral of Alton Sterling, who was shot dead on July 5th by two white police officers outside a convenience store in Baton Rouge, took place in Louisiana, USA yesterday July 15th. Alton's son, Cameron, his mum and other family members broke down in tears during his funeral service. May his soul rest in peace Amen. Continue for more photos

How bill to restrict employment of foreign nationals in Nigeria will be of benefit - Femi Gbajabiamila

Majority Leader of Nigeria's 8th House of Representatives, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila is proposing a law that will restrict foreigners from securing employment in fields where a Nigerian is qualified.  This proposed law which will address the growing unemployment in the country and be of big benefit to Nigerians, has already scaled second reading some days ago.. However some controversy came with it, as people who don't understand it's benefit criticized him for proposing such a bill. He took to his official Twitter handle to clarify things and shed some light on the law - for better understanding .

A student of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State, Kazeem Oloto, was shot dead by suspected cult members on Thursday July 14th. The reason for the murder is not yet known but according to the management of the school, his death had nothing to do with the just concluded student union government election in June.  The suspected cultist after shooting him, dragged his remains into a bush. A housewife in Lagos state, Afusat Simpa, says she is tired of her 51 year old husband, Mohammed Simpa who cannot go beyond one round of sex. Speaking to The Sun, Afusat says her husband's inability to satisfy her sexually has caused them to have constant quarrels. According to her, she expects him to go three rounds whenever they have sex. “I expect my husband to be able to take me to orgasm whenever I wish to make love to him. But no, that is not the case; instead he would stop at one round breathing as if he just climbed a mountain. It is unac­ceptable. But I understand his predicament,” she said. The father of four attributed his partial impotency to an accident he sustained in 2003 while working at a pharmaceutical company some years ago. Ac­cording to him, he was injured above his pelvis and was operated upon. A group of Muslim youths yesterday, attacked St. Philip’s Catholic Parish, Baki Iku, close to Zuma Rock in Niger State. They ended up destroying properties worth thousands of naira in the church. This is coming only a few days after a female pastor in the Redeem Christian Church of God, Mrs. Eunice Olawale, was brutally killed by suspected Muslim extremists. According to ThisDay, the Vicar-General of Parish, Revered-Father Gobep Luka Sylvester, who confirmed the news last night said about 200 Muslim youths stormed the Church premises yesterday and destroyed properties of the church. Niger Delta Avengers has warned that, any repair work on ExxonMobil blown up pipeline will lead to an attack on the oil company workers. Recall that the group had on Monday claimed responsibility for the attack on Exxon Mobil Que Iboe 48-inch Crude Oil Export Pipeline in Akwa Ibom. But the company’s spokesperson, Todd Spitler denied claim of the attack, saying the damage that occurred was due to “system anomaly.” Reacting to Spitler’s comment on the attack, the separatist group in a statement by its spokesman, Mudock Agbinibo warned the oil company to consider the consequences of fixing the blown up pipeline. According to the group, should Exxon Mobil fail to heed its warning by going, “ahead to carry out repairs on the pipeline something big will happen.” The group said, “We are warning ExxonMobil not to carry out any repair work on the blown pipeline, if they refuse and go ahead with any repair work, something big and worse will happen.

Not many Nigerians, especially close watchers of Nigeria’s National Assembly, will be surprised at the outburst and behaviour of Senator Dino Melaye on the floor of the Senate last Tuesday. Mr. Melaye, the senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, had in a closed-door session of the upper legislative chamber, abused his colleague, Oluremi Tinubu, representing Lagos Central, over some remarks made against him by the latter. Mrs. Tinubu, who is also the wife of a national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, was elected on the party’s platform as Mr. Melaye. PREMIUM TIMES sources said the two senators clashed after the Kogi senator urged the Senate to deal with its members who had offered to serve as prosecution witnesses in the ongoing forgery case against Senate President Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu. Mr. Melay
