President Muhammadu Buhari has fired Abdulrahman Mani, his chief security officer (CSO), over what insiders described as “shady deals” in fixing appointments and for “undermining” the president.  Presidency sources told TheCable that Mani committed various misdemeanours, “chief among which was a recent discovery that he was actually the one who leaked Buhari’s itinerary to Diezani Alison-Madueke when he travelled to London in May”.  Alison-Madueke, then minister of petroleum resources, had surprisingly travelled on the same British Airways flight with Buhari, sitting in the same cabin and right behind the then president-elect. The Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) has terminated the appointment of Stephen Keshi as Head Coach of the Senior National Football Team, Super Eagles. At least one per­son was allegedly killed and about five houses set ablaze yesterday at Aku­zor Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State, by irate mob in protest over the killing of a tenant by his landlord’s son. Trouble started when a tenant simply identified as, David was attacked by a landlord and his family for allegedly owing electricity bill. As the tenant was being beaten, one of the land­lord’s sons, Tochukwu, stabbed the tenant with a knife from the back and the knife pierced through and surfaced at his stomach. He slumped and died. It was gathered that be­fore the stabbing, the land­lord’s daughter had earlier hit the tenant with electric pressing iron on his face which made him to lose his teeth. Noticing that the tenant has died, sympathisers and passers-by mobilised into a mob and set five houses and a car belonging to the land­lord ablaze.   Nigeria's army said on Saturday that scores of people had been killed in an attack by six suicide bombers on the northeastern village of Zabarmari, near Maiduguri.   "A total of six suicide bombers had detonated themselves around the garage killing scores of people while some people were also wounded. A soldier also died," the defence headquarters said in a statement of Friday's attack.  It said a jeep full of Improvised Explosives Devises (IEDs) was recovered by troops after the assault on the village which lies about 10 kilometres (six miles) from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.

A prominent member of the Ekiti state chapter of PDP, Chief Dayo Okondo, has rejected Governor Ayo Fayose's offer of appointment to serve as a member of the Governing Council of the College of Education, Ikere Ekiti. At a press conference which he convened yesterday July 3rd, Chief Okondo said despite his efforts at making the party a success in the state, the state government belittled him by offering him such an appointment without consulting him. The shocking moment an Egyptian hotel entertainer held a fake gun to the heads of holiday makers as a 'joke' in a popular Egyptian hotel wasphotograped. And this happened just a day after 38 people were gunned down at a Tunisian hotel. Photos show the man,  a member of staff at a hotel in Sharm el-Sheikh, dressed up in a tuxedo and running down the beach with an imitation revolver. The worker, believed to be part of the hotel's entertainment team, can then be seen leaning over a man on a sun lounger and pretending to hold him at gunpoint.
