Eric (aka Vocal Slender) started out working as a scavenger digging through dump sites to find scraps to sell, so that he could pay for studio time to record his music. He was first discovered by BBC for a documentary called "Welcome to Lagos" and his clip of the documentary was shared on YouTube through which he became known across the world. Since the documentary, Eric has recorded several songs, which he distributes on his YouTube channel opening his music up to a new audience. To give back to the community he comes from, Eric uses Google+ and YouTube to raise awareness of underprivileged youngsters in the slums of Lagos. He started a charity that raises funds for scholarships and encourages kids to stay in school. Brymo Wins Case As Court Lifts Injunction Against Him

On Monday March 3rd, Brymo won round one of his court battle with his former record label Chocolate City, who took an injunction against him, 'restraining him from recording, releasing or distributing any musical works pending the determination of the suit against him.' A judge sitting at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi lifted the injunction against Brymo, saying he's free to continue doing music and releasing his materials while the case continues hearing in court. The presiding judge, Justice Buba I.N said Chocolate City can be compensated at a later period. "Since the plaintiff can be compensated at a later date, the defendant is free to carry out his duties as a singer so that none of the parties will be at a disadvantage’. the judge said A 2-day hearing for the case has been slated for 19th and 20th of March.

Jakana Attack: 11 Elderly Persons On Fire By Boko Haram

The member representing Borno Central, at the Senate, Senator Ahmed Zannah, on Tuesday confirmed that the Boko Haram gunmen who attacked Jakana on Tuesday set 11 elderly persons on fire  in  some of the houses  they razed. Zannah, who spoke with journalists in Maiduguri, the state capital,   said   the residents of Jakana got wind of the insurgents, who attacked the village at about 8pm on Monday, and fled leaving the aged who could not flee behind. The Senator said the insurgents  set the houses ablaze and in the process burnt the 11 elderly persons beyond recognition because they could not flee or be taken captive. The senator alleged that the soldiers who had initial fled on sighting the Boko Haram gunmen later summoned courage to fight the insurgents on realisation that the terrorists  were not as many and prepared in their normal traditional. Police Storm Birthday Venue, Arrest Suspected Cult Members

A bash meant to celebrate the birthday of an unnamed member of Eiye Confraternity was suddenly halted on Saturday after policemen stormed the venue and arrested no fewer than 13 people present at the event. The Lagos State Police Command said on Tuesday that the arrested persons were also members of the Eiye Confraternity cult. The police insisted that the suspects and others at large were at the 50-50 hotel, Igbokosun, Lagos, the venue of the supposed bash, to celebrate new members who had just been initiated into the cult. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Manko, while parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters, said, “The Divisional Police Officer,  Ilasan, Lekki Lagos, CSP Gbenga Olurunfemi, got a distress call around 3.55am that a group of cultists were about to perpetrate their evil act.

President Jonathan Warns The Governors Abusing Him To Go And Develop Their State

President Goodluck Jonathan has told state governors who cast aspersion on him and the Federal Government that such action will not help the development of their states. He said on Tuesday that the best thing for state governors to do was to take their  cue from Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State by ensuring cordial relationship with him and the Federal Government. Jonathan gave the advice while receiving a delegation of Anambra State indigenes who were at the Presidential Villa, Abuja to thank him for the support he gave to Obi, the outgoing governor of the state. Obi will hand over to the governor-elect, Chief Willie Obiano, on March 17. He said unlike some unnamed politicians who preferred to fight him, the outgoing Anambra State governor cooperated with his government and played active role in the Economic Management Team.

ABOMINATION: Pastor Conducts Virginity Test With His Finger For His Church Members

ABEOKUTA — The Ogun State Police Command said yesterday, that it had arrested a pastor identified as  Adekunle Kayode, 34, for conducting virginity test on  a 20-year-old female member of his church in Abeokuta, the state capital, using his finger. Vanguardng r reported that, Kayode, a pastor in charge of Jesus Is The Way Evangelistic Ministry, Olorunsogo, Abeokuta, was reportedly arrested by detectives attached to Kemta Division  in his house, 3, Okeyidi Street, Abeokuta. The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement said the pastor’s arrest was carried out when the victim narrated her ordeal to her father who then informed the police of the incident. The pastor was reported to have been engaging in the act in the church weekly in a bid to confirm the girl’s virginity status.
