A meeting between  former President Olusegun Obasanjo and five  Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) governors at Obasanjo’s residence, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, has ended with the former President  saying Nigeria is in a “bad situation.” Obasanjo, who addressed reporters said the situation of the country is bad, but added  that it is “not irretrievably bad if there the will and courage to do the right thing at the right time.” The former president said he deliberated with the governors on “issues affecting the country- the security and the economy among others. The People Democratic Party has suspended its former chairman, Bamanga Tukur from the party. A terse press release issued by the party today stated that Bamanga Tukur was   suspended after the party National Working Committee to reviewed his activities in recent time agaionst the current chairman, Adamu Muazu. The parents of a ten-year-old boy who confessed to urinating on a boy, 7, in the toilets at a primary school have sent a callous and curt apology to the distraught mother of the boy, who also claimed he was sexually molested. The seven-year-old, who has learning difficulties, was urinated on and sexually molested by the ten-year-old over several months at the primary school in Victoria, the mother says. The handwritten note from the older boy's parents says: 'Dear Parent, I would like to apologise for my son's [name suppressed] inappropriate behaviour towards your child, causing you and your child distress'. The note was written after the parents refused to meet with the mother and 'discuss the situation'. Cyprian Nwankwo who sold Aswani market land to partner at Zone 2, Onikan A businessman has been arrested by the police after he reportedly sold four plots of Aswani Market land valued at N83 million to his partner in Isolo, Lagos State Western Nigeria. The land was acquired by the Lagos State government for the construction of Aswani market. Abia State-born    Cyprian Nwankwo, who is the Managing Director, Advance International Merchant Limited, allegedly sold the land to his business partner, Elder Monday Chinke in Isolo. After he sold the land to Chinke, who is a shareholder in his company and prepared a deed of transfer, it was discovered that the land belonged the Lagos State Government. More than seven Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors this morning arrived the Abeokuta, Ogun State, hilltop residence of former President Olusegun Obasanjo to persuade him to work for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan in next year’s presidential election. Two of the governors, Liyel Imoke of Cross River State and Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, arrived Obasanjo’s residence at 12.55 p.m. and sw iftly moved into the house without any banters with journalists who were there. Our correspondent could not confirm the identity of some of the governors as the registration numbers of their cars were covered. A close aide of Obasanjo confirmed that all the governors were from the PDP and that they came to persuade Obasanjo not to abandon the party at this crucial moment when his support is highly needed. A 24 year old woman named Li Zhenghua, was discovered by a shocked nurse trying to eat her baby days after he was born at a local hospital in China. The nurse saw her eating the infant's arm and as she made to rescue the infant, the crazed mum refused to let the baby go. The nurse immediately raised an alarm and called other hospital staff who helped to rescue the baby. According to local media reports, the attack happened at a hospital in the city of Shenzhen in China’s Guangdong Province. The woman had been found on the streets heavily pregnant and in labour.. The homeless woman, suspected to be mentally unstable, was taken to the hospital where she gave birth and attempted to eat her baby. The Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has claimed that the latest report of the sighting of four of the escaped prisoners in the Government House confirmed Governor Ayodele Fayose’s complicity in the Monday jail break in Ado-Ekiti. The party who made the accusation based on the conflicting reports from the governor and his media aide, Lere Olayinka, alleged that the prisoners live in the government house. APC alleged that the jailbreak was a plan to free criminals friendly with the government in order to unleash them on the opponents as suspicion of alleged killer squad in the state grew. Suspected armed men stormed the Assemblies of God Church headquarters in Enugu, yesterday where they attacked Rev. Elisha Anyanwu, Rev. Gideon Adolphous and members of the church. According to The Sun, it was alleged, that the thugs were hired by a sacked senior member of the church, to stop the church members from having their prayer meeting at the church secretariat and prevent members to enter the church premises. The thugs reportedly left with valuable items. Rev. The Chairman of the NFF Electoral Appeals Committee, Okey Ajunwa has nulliffied the election that produced the Amaju Pinnick-led executive of the Nigeria Football Federation, barely 24 hours after the committee upheld the polls. A former US ambassador has described the Nigeria’s military cancellation of US specialised military training on fighting Boko Haram sect as ‘puzzling’, ThisDay reports. The US embassy which made the cancellation known during the week said the decision was baffling because Nigerian military struggles to defeat the extremist, which constitutes nuisance in the North-eastern part of the country.
