Nigeria “most fractured” now than any time since civil war — Obasanjo

Image
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday lamented the continued threats of disintegration resulting from the activities of armed groups in the different regions of the country. Mr. Obasanjo said Nigeria has never been as divided in history, except for the country’s civil war period between 1967 and 1970. He spoke at the maiden edition of the Nigeria Union of Journalists’ national summit held at Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta. The former president, who was represented by Peter Okebukola, a professor, said the media should not fan the embers of disunity but rather take the lead in the marching towards greater national integration and development. He criticised those calling for the breakup of Nigeria, lamenting that the activities of the Niger-Delta Avengers, Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen had fractured the country. “At no time in our history, except probably during the civil war, has Nigeria been so fractured in the feeling of

Pastor Adeboye Finally Replies Critics Over His Message To Men And Women Seeking To Marry

Image
Against the background of the criticisms that greeted one of his sermons at the yearly convention of the Redeem Christian Church of God, its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has said his messages are not for everybody. The social media was awash a couple of weeks ago on the sermon of Adeboye to the youth members of the church at the Redemption Camp where the message bordered on the choice of marriage partners. The widely circulated footage had shown Adeboye telling the men not to marry a woman who could not cook or pray for a minimum of an hour. In the same video, he warned the spinsters not to marry a man who had no job or who could not show concrete evidence of his means of livelihood. But the world renowned preacher on his Facebook page on Tuesday , in apparent reaction to the criticisms, said his messages were not for everybody. Adeboye said, “My message are not for everybody. So, I plead with you, ask God to speak to you specifi

WATCH VIDEO: NAF Releases Video Claiming They Did Not Kill Any Chibok Girls

Image
The attention of the Nigerian Air Force has been drawn to the latest video released online by the Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) group alleging the killing of some of the abducted Chibok school girls by Nigerian Air Force fighter jets. It is pertinent to state that the video is not only a ruse but another mischievous effort by the dying sect to draw public attention to itself. Whereas the video showed a cross section of the abducted girls and an airborne aircraft, it provided no evidence that the supposed casualties were as a result of any air to ground attack. More so, there is sufficient evidence to believe that the casualties were arranged as the positioning of the bodies clearly defiles any natural setting of a location that has undergone aerial bombardment. Besides, the impact and accompanying degree of damage to the bodies would have been more, were they to have died from air strike. It is therefore clear that the video is a make-up story to discredit the NAF, and more importa

Herdsmen killed 6 villagers in Kaduna because the villagers killed one Fulani chief- Chairman of Kaduna state herdsmen says

Image
Chairman of the Kaduna State Chapter of Miyetti Ahallah(association of herdsmen), Haruna Usman, has said that last week Saturday's attack by herdsmen in Godogodo village in Kaduna state was a reprisal one after the villagers killed a Fulani chief. In an interview with Vanguard, Usman said;  “Are Fulani crazy to just go and attack people? Did you ask the Godogodo people what they did to the Fulani? We already have 17 grazing reserves in Kaduna State since colonial times, and there is no dispute about that. What happened was that these people went and killed a Fulani Chief in one of the villages and burnt his house. The Fulani are just revenging.”  Refuting Usman's claim, the villagers said the armed herdsmen had asked them to vacate their village, saying it had become a cattle grazing reserve. A village elder from Godogodo gave the names of those killed during last Saturday's attack as Monday Hamza, 24, married with three children; Toma Masara, 35, marrie
