TRAGEDY: Pregnant Woman, 4 Others Electrocuted At Oworonshoki, Lagos

Five persons, including a pregnant woman were allegedly electrocuted on Thursday in Lagos after a PHCN high-tension cable fell, causing fire and explosion. An eyewitness told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident happened around 2.00 a.m. at Oworonshoki, Lagos. The source said that fire broke out when the cable fell on a Toyota Camry car loaded with petroleum products. The source said that the victims rushed out of their homes when they heard the explosion and ran into the live cable unknowingly. “As they rushed out, they all embraced the cable in front of their house and they were electrocuted.

31year old Blessing Aransiola (pictured) was caught in the early hours of this morning April 10th allegedly trying to steal a 1 year old girl, Oreoluwa Adanri, from her parents home at Ademola Coker Street, Alagbole, Ogun State, PM News reports. Narrating what happened, Oreoluwa's mother, Mrs Adanri said Blessing gained entrance into their home around 4am by tearing their window net as they slept. She said she was woken up by the cry of her daughter in the hands of the suspect. "She picked up the baby as she was sleeping on the bed by the window and stole N5,000 kept in a purse. She was trying to run away when my husband ran after her and caught her. I raised an alarm to draw neighbours’ attention to the incident and everybody came out to assist us,” Mrs. Adanri narrated. Blessing was arrested and immediately taken to the Ajuwon station where she is being held for kidnapping. Continue...

Boko Haram Bomb Police Station, Bank, Court In Jigawa State

Boko Haram members yesterday April 9th bombed a police station, a bank and a Sharia Court in Gwaram Sabuwa, Gwaram LGA of Jigawa State killing at least 4 policemen, one civilian, with quite a number of others sustaining various degrees of injury. According to eye witnesses, the men, who were about 20 in number and came in motorcycles and other vehicles, operated from  1am to 2am  unhindered. They later told the villagers that they would be back again if they continue sending their children to school, operating football viewing centres and  accepting polio vaccines. Continue... EBOLA IS REAL: Nigeria At Risk Of Ebola Virus - FG

The Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, has said that Nigeria is now at risk of contacting the deadly Ebola virus which has been spreading across neighboring West African countries in recent times. The virus which first broke out in Guinea in January this year, is said to have no vaccine at the moment and has killed a total of 87 people with 137 cases reported since the outbreak.    Ghana only recently reported a case of Ebola Virus Disease. Dwayne Johnson, known as The Rock, has not died but has become the victim of two death hoaxes in the same week. One says he was killed in a fall and another said he died during “Fast & Furious 7″ filming, but neither are true. A recent one being spread via Facebook says Johnson died after falling to his death in New Zealand. It comes a few days after one– complete with a “RIP”  image–said he died while filming a movie stunt for “Fast & Furious 7.” Amid the scams, J ohnson tweeted  on Wednesday: “Alright.. 3 hrs sleep, but kickin’ jet lag’s [expletive]. Its time to work.. Good morning from lovely London.” He also offered his condolences to the family of wrestler Ultimate Warrior, who died Tuesday night.

A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, says his closed-door meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday has earned him insults. Fani-Kayode, an ardent critic of the President, laments on Wednesday, that what transpired at the meeting had been the subject of so much "online speculation". Writing on his Facebook page, he insists that he has a right to pay a courtesy visit to Jonathan, just as governors who belong to the opposition APC do. Reacting to the Muslim/Muslim presidential ticket saga in APC, Fani-Kayode said: “What I have said is very simple and clear. I will say nothing until I am ready. Let those that are insulting me and making assumptions continue to do so. That, in itself, tells me a lot.”

CONFAB: Female Delegate Slumps At National Conference In Abuja

Mrs Ezenwa Ifeanyinwa, a female delegate at the ongoing National Conference slumped on Wednesday at the venue of the conference shortly after the resumption of the afternoon session. Mrs. Ifeanyinwa, a representative of the Market Women Association, was returning from the lunch break and was heading towards the plenary chamber when she suddenly fainted. The ailing female delegate was immediately rushed by State Security Service, SSS, personnel into one of the ante rooms outside the Conference plenary chamber, following which a doctor was brought in to attend to her. Shortly before the arrival of the medial personnel, another female delegate had laid hands on her and prayed for her recovery. Many are still wondering what could have happened to her. The woman was very vibrant during the early hours of the day and was involved in the debate for the day. Sources say it appears many delegates are sick and have not been taking care of their health before now.

An unemployed engineering graduate, Mr. Sunday Omotayo, tried to end his own life on Wednesday but for the timely intervention of a police woman along Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo, Akwa Ibom. Sunday Omotayo caused a stir in the area, when he jumped out of a speeding Toyota Hiace bus, expecting to be crushed to death by any vehicle. He is tired of life after searching for a job for 10yrs after graduation. Speaking on his predicament, Sunday Omotayo said:  “There is no state that I have not gone to in search of a job in the past 10 years. I came to Akwa Ibom because of the stories of Governor Godswill Akpabio and his publicized uncommon transformation. “I came with the hope that with what is going on in the state, getting a job would be easy so that I can begin to be a man. But since I came, I discovered that many people from Akwa Ibom are also crying because of poverty and joblessness.” Nigeria is a country where government focus on deceit rather than do the right thing...

The guy who tweeted live pics of SSS/Boko Haram 'Jail break' has allegedly been arrested

The guy who tweeted live photos of soldiers during the Boko haram escape attempt on Sunday March 30th, (See it  here ) has allegedly been picked up by the SSS for tweeting pics of a military operation. I don't know how accurate this info is but a few people are talking about it on Twitter, though SSS Spokesperson Marylyn Ogah says she's not aware of @Ciaxon's arrest. Continue to see more tweets...
