Female suspect strips naked in cell, police seek relatives

A female suspect in the custody of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, Lagos State, has been taken by the police to the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba, to determine her state of health. The suspect, whose name had yet to be ascertained, was arrested after two missing siblings were found with her in Ojuwoye Market, Mushin. PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspect had been creating confusion at the SCIID. She was said to have stripped naked on numerous occasions, including the times she was taken out of her cell to give her statement to the police. It was gathered that she also attacked other suspects in her cell, which made the authorities at the SCIID to move her to a solitary cell. IPOB condemns alleged threat to Kanu’s life in Kuje prison

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, worldwide yesterday condemned the alleged incessant harassment and threats to the life of its leader and Director of Radio Biafra, Mr Nnamdi Kanu who has been incarcerated since October 14, 2015. IPOB in a statement jointly signed by its  spokespersons, Mr. Emma Mmezu, a lawyer and Dr. Clifford Iroanya, alleged that the life of Kanu is under serious threat by the activities of the DSS and some prison officials they are using to unleash some dehumanizing treatments to him.  The IPOB statement read: “Our leader’s life, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu is under serious threat. The DSS has been using some unscrupulous prison officials to unleash some dehumanizing treatments, such as firing dangerous chemical substance into the cell room of Mr. Kanu who has been in detention since October 14th, 2015 in Kuje prison Abuja.  “They have not stopped at harassing Mr. Kanu, they are also harassing members of IPOB, Kanu’s friends and relatives

Patience Jonathan’s cash: Houseboy, driver’s names used to open $15m accounts

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested four domestic servants, including a driver and a houseboy, whose names were used to open bank accounts for Mrs Dame Patience Jonathan, the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan. Sources within the anti-graft agency said on Sunday that the companies’ accounts were opened at Skye Bank. The companies are Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited, Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Limited, Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited and Globus Integrated Service Limited. The four companies’ accounts, which have since been frozen by the EFCC, have a balance of about $15m while another account, which bears Patience Jonathan’s name, has $5m. Mr. Sammie Somiari, who deposed to an affidavit on behalf of the ex-President’s wife, said the former First Lady was the owner of the money in the accounts. Manchester city football club of England have confirmed that 19 year old striker Kelechi Iheanacho is their youngest player ever to score in the Manchester derby. Iheanacho scored Man City's second goal in the 2-1 win over Man U on Saturday at Old Trafford and City confirmed the Nigerian has broken the record aged 19 years and 243 days. In their review of the Premier League clash, City wrote on their official webpage : “Kelechi admitted that he hadn’t expected De Bruyne’s shot to fall to him but he showed none of this surprise when he instinctively clipped the ball past David De Gea. “In doing so, Iheanacho became the youngest City player to score in a Premier League derby and scored his ninth Premier League strike from his 13th shot on target. ”

$122million in cash is found at home of Russian anti corruption chief during police raid

A Russian anti corruption chief has been nabbed with $122million cash during a police raid on his home. Russian police seized the haul during a raid on the house of Dmitry Zakharchenko, the deputy head of the Energy Industry Department of the General Administration of Economic Security and Combating the Corruption. The money was reportedly so much that they had to pause in order to find boxes large enough to hold the cash. After coming away with the huge sum, $2.2million of which was in Euros, he was arrested on suspicion of abuse of power, obstruction of justice, and accepting bribes. A source said: 'The final amount is unknown. [Police] confiscated a cache only in [Zakharchenko's] house; it is not yet known how many more assets [he has], but we are working in this direction.' His lawyer, Yury Novikov, said: 'We are asking about two alternative measures: home arrest or 70 million rubles ($1 million) bail.' Source: Daily Mail

Janet Jackson on doctor-ordered bed rest ahead of baby's birth

Doctors have ordered 50 year old pregnant Janet Jackson to remain on bedrest due to unkown pregnancy complications. A source told E! News that Janet is now under "doctor's orders to rest" until her baby arrives. "She is doing okay and resting until she is due for her baby," the source told E!, explaining that the order came after Janet experienced some unknown pregnancy complications. "As of now, doctors say she is okay," the source added. "She's where all of her doctors are," the insider added. "But she had taken her mother out to lunch a few weeks ago." This will be Janet's first child with husband Wissam Al Mana, 41, whom she secretly married in 2012.

Ten casualties recorded, no loss of life in accident on 3rd mainland bridge -LASEMA

A statement released by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency regarding the multiple vehicle accident that occurred at the Oworonshoki end of the 3rd mainland bridge Sunday, September 11th: The Agency received an alert via Emergency number of an accident at third mainland bridge inwards Iyana Oworo on 11th of September 2016. This prompted immediate activation of the Agency's ERT to the scene of the incident . Preminary Investigation carried out by the ERT at the scene of the incident revealed that a Commercial bus(FST-668XR) somersault at top speed and landed on a BMW car(KRD-294CN). There was no loss of life recorded however ten casualties were recorded. The injured victims were treated while some were rushed to the trauma centre by LASAMBUS. The Agency's ERT, LASAMBUS, LASTMA, Nigeria Police Force and Lagos State Fire Service were the responder present at the scene of the incident for Traffic control, Crowd control, Recovery operation.

Yesterday evening, a suspected female suicide bomber was seen approaching troops check point located at Kara Cattle market axis, Dikwa, towards Antul and Mukdala, Dikwa Local Government Area, Borno State. She was challenged from afar by the vigilant duty sentry, she refused to stop claiming to be coming from Monguno to see her parents in Dikwa. Troops sensing the direction of approach was suspicious and abnormal, fired a shot at her and the sentry gallant sentry was proven right as she was carrying a Person Borne Improvised Explosive Device (PBIED) which exploded with a loud bang, killing her instantly and causing minor injury on 2 soldiers and a Civilian JTF assisting them. The injured soldiers and the civilian have been treated and have continued with their duties. In a related development, there is also very reliable information that remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists now disguise or pretend to be mad men or women in order to gain a
