The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has secured a $1.2 billion (about N238.6bn) multi-year drilling financing package for 36 Offshore/Onshore Oil wells under the NNPC/Chevron Nigeria Limited Joint Venture. The funding package which is being financed by a consortium of Nigerian and International lenders is an integral part of the Accelerated Upstream Financing Programme initiated by NNPC to address the perennial challenge experienced by the Federal Government in providing its counter-part funding of JV upstream activities. How gas shortage delayed N1tr power projects

Image
The over five billion dollars (about N1trillion) electricity stations built under the National Integrated Power Projects (NIPPs) are almost idle over lack of concrete gas supply terms, Daily Trust gathered. According to the pioneer Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Ramson Owan the over $5billion invested in the NIPPs, they are down as gas is not there to power them. The projects cannot come to a financial close because there is not enough gas for the plants. Owan who is now the Group Managing Director on Power for AITEO Group spoke yesterday at the Discussion Session for Sustainable and Profitable Gas Sector at the Powering Africa Nigeria Summit in Abuja. The NIPP generation projects include ten medium-sized gas-fired power plants. Buhari To Saraki: Leave Me Out Of Your Trial

Image
President Muhammadu Buhari has said that the attempts to link the ongoing trial of the Senate President Bukola Saraki to him are unacceptable. President Buhari said this in a statement on Sunday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu. He said views to the effect that the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) could only act upon external instigation were equally uninformed. According to the presidential aide, there is no place in law that the Bureau and the Tribunal should take instructions from any quarters. He said as an independent institution equal to any superior court of record; the tribunal is set up by the constitution to determine the issue of default, false declaration or forgery in assets declaration. "This therefore is purely a judicial process and has nothing to do with the Presidency", he said. He said those who had an axe to grind with what they are doing should

Buhari has no direction,he is not even qualified to be a councillor - Asari Dokubo says

Image
Leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Asari Dokubo, has opened up on his assessment of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. In this interview with the Sun , he says the government has no direction. On President Muhammadu Buhari 's has spent 100 days in office We are all here and we have seen that the government of President Buhari has no direction. The government so far has achieved nothing but to make noise. All sorts of lies are being told that power is stable. I do not know where power  is stable because where I am staying, there is no power. It may be stable in other places but maybe it is a punishment to us. Perhaps, we are among the seven per cent that did not vote for him, so we are being punished. He has not built anything and there is no policy thrust. There is no economic policy and there is nothing in place to show that a government is in power. Somebody is managing the country as a sole administrator. This is how Hitler

Image
Since the death of Miss Oluchi Anekwe, a third-year Accounting student at the University of Lagos, the university’s Medical Centre has remained the subject of widespread criticism and ridicule. Both the students of the university and members of the Anekwe family have insisted that Oluchi who was rushed to the Medical Centre in a taxi was alive at the time she arrived the hospital, and would have in fact survived had the medical officials attended to her promptly. Last week, a student who identified herself as Damilola told Saturday  Tribune  that medical officials at the Centre had done nothing to save Anekwe’s life. “She could have been saved; they were asking us for her ID card at the Medical Centre. How could they be asking for her ID card when they saw it was an emergency? They were delaying us, asking us to go and get her ID card. Five minutes is enough to save a life; if she was not a UNILAG student, would we all have gathered there? And even if she was not a UN
