Son of late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Disowns IPOB, MASSOB, insists father met Buhari

S on of late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Emeka Ojukwu Jr. yesterday disowned Biafra agitators, vindicating President Muhammadu Buhari on his celebrated discussions with his late father on the Unity and indivisibility of the Nigerian Nation. Ojukwu who spoke in a release to reporters in Awka, Anambra State, noted that contrary to news around the internet by Biafra agitators that he had denied that his father met President Buhari, he never granted any media interview or posted any massage on social media that Buhari was wrong about his discussions with the late father. This reaction is coming on the heels of stories making the rounds in the social media that he; Ojukwu Jr. replied Buhari’s statements as untrue which members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have been describing as lies, demanding proof of the meeting with the late Ikemba of Nnewi with Mr. President. T he leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to give a better argument in handling calls for secession and restructuring. He said this at his country home in Afaraukwu Ibeku, Umuahia, while reacting to the President’s order against IPOB, and other agitating groups. He warned that Buhari’s order of force to solve national problems would yield no results, adding that the people must not be “railroaded into succumbing to intimidation.” Nnamdi Kanu said Buhari should know that there are better ways to handle issues that concern the growth and development of the country instead of resorting to threat or intimidation of the citizenry into believing in his course. FEC meeting must not be held every week – Presidency

T he Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Femi Adesina has defended the President’s decision to cancel the Federal Executive Council (FEC) Meeting on Wednesday. According to him, no law stipulated that FEC must meet every week. He stated this when he featured on Channels Television’s Politics Today hosted by Seun Okinbaolye on Wednesday night. The presidential spokesman said concerns about its implications were uncalled for. He said: “There is no law that says the Federal Executive Council meeting should hold every week. There is no law that says it must be weekly. Under a past administration, it used to hold once every two weeks. “So, there is no law that says it should hold every Wednesday. It depends on what you have on the agenda to discuss. The President is the Chairman of that meeting. S hortly after submitting the report from the investigation committee on the allegations of fraud leveled against suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF, Babachir Lawal and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency NIA, Ayo Oke, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who chaired the committee, spoke with state house correspondents. He refused to give any information regarding the suggestions made by the committee, adding that he cannot tell if heads would roll following the recommendations the committee had made in the report. Sultan announces September 1 as Sallah Day

T he Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sa’ad Abubakar, has announced September 1, 2017 as Eid-el-Kabir day. The day had earlier been declared by the Saudi Arabian government as the day of the festival celebrated by Muslims all over the world. The festival is marked by the slaughter of rams by Muslims who can afford it who then eat and share the meat and food with families, friends, and the less privileged. The sultan’s announcement was stated in a statement signed by Sambo Junaidu, the Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs to the Sokoto Sultanate Council.
