Aero contractos, First Nation, are not folding up- NCAA says

Authorities at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority NCAA have come out to debunk reports that airlines, Aero contractors and First Nation, were folding up. This rumor followed the suspension of operations by both airlines. The Director-General of the NCAA, Capt. Muhtar Usman, in a statement released today, said the decision for the airlines to suspend their operations was taken so as to ensure that they carried out the required maintenance of their aircrafts. “The First Nation Airlines on its part is in the middle of an Engine Replacement Programme for one of its aircrafts. Another aircraft is due for mandatory maintenance as allowed by the regulatory authority. In these circumstances, these airlines clearly cannot continue to undertake schedule operations, hence the inevitable recourse to self regulatory suspension.” NCAA boss maintained that both airlines had not folded up but that they were “merely suspending their operations temporarily to enable t

Lagos pastor arrested for keeping 30 girls as ‘sex slaves’ in his church

The Lagos state police command has arrested Chukwuma Nkwocha, general overseer of the Tongue of Fire Restoration Ministry, located in the Shogunle area of the state,for allegedly keeping 30 under-aged girls as sex slaves. According to New Telegraph , Nkwocha was holding a service on Tuesday when operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) stormed the church to pick him up. The newspaper quoted Dolapo Badmos, police public relations officer (PPRO) in the state, as saying Fatai Owoseni, commissioner of police, had ordered investigation into the case. Badmos said two of the girls had confessed that Nkwocha had carnal knowledge of them. “The command rescued about 30 young girls from the pastor’s custody,” Dolapo reportedly said. “Two of them acknowledged he had canal knowledge of them. Boko Haram: 'The real Shekau is dead'- Nigerian Army insists

The Nigerian Army today maintained it has killed the original leader of Boko Haram terrorists, Abubakar Shekau and that the second person that disguised as Shekau has also been killed. The Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Nigeria’s military operation set up to battle Boko Haram, Major General Lucky Irabor, said this while speaking during a tour of formations at the Adamawa State Command which he heads. He said another man who has been presenting himself as Shekau was wounded recently “I can confirm to you that the original Shekau was killed, the second Shekau was killed, and the man presenting himself as Shekau, I can also confirm to you that few days ago, he was wounded. We are yet to confirm whether he is dead or not. They released videos to prove that they are still active, but that’s just a facade”he said

Dare-devil Niger Delta Militants Bomb Agip Pipeline in Imo

A daring Niger-Delta militant group named the Niger Delta Red Squad (RDRS) has successfully added to the headaches of Governor Rochas Ewele Okorocha by destroying an Agip oil facility in Imo, South-eastern part of Nigeria, Daily Sun reports. The explosion took place at Umuonei in Awara community and was announced on Facebook with a stern warning to the Agip workers to steer clear or face a death penalty by heading. This is the second lethal attack by the group after it struck three months ago. The group which is yet to be attended to by the government operates in the oil bearing communities of Ohaji/Egbema council area of the state. The group in the Facebook post by one General Don Wannie, claimed it struck because it has nothing to show for the operations of Agip, and other oil companies in their community since the creation of Imo State.   “We have seen enough marginalisation and it has to be stopped,”  he said. President Muhammadu Buhari The main opposition party of Nigeria, People's Democratic Party earlier this week called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign, following the economic woes of the country in the last 15 months which has seen the naira fall to an all time low at the interbank and parallel markets, increased inflation at 17.1%, 4.8 million loss of jobs, folding up of several multinational and local companies amongst other problems. Members of a notorious kidnapping gang that has been terrorizing Benue state were arrested today by Benue state security agencies. Six school children were rescued, some have been reunited with their families while some are yet to identify their parents. Addressing news men in Makurdi, Governor Ortom reiterated that kidnappers and other criminals has no place in Benue and call on the people of the state to remain resolute and assist the security agencies to curb more criminals in the state as his administration will continue to do his best to chase away criminals in order to provide a conducive environment for investors come in. Shocking video footage has emerged showing three girls and a boy throwing punches and pulling the hair of a pregnant student at Selma High School, Alabama on Tuesday morning. The vicious attack which also saw students climbing on desks has been caught on camera but blurred to conceal the students' identities. During the fight, two teachers tried to break it but were assaulted in the process by the students. Police have now arrested the three girls and boy who launched the attacks on the pregnant girl. District Attorney Michael Jackson said the class had just begun when it descended into a 'complete melee with swinging, kicking and other violent acts', and the fight was linked to a neighborhood event the previous night. "He is doing well" Julius Agwu's wife clears the air on his health status, thanks friends and fans for their support

Julius Agwu's wife has reacted to reports making the round in the media about the comedian's current health status. The comedian, who survived a brain surgery last year, was hospitalized in London last weekend from stress of organizing his annual comedy show, Crack ya Ribs, which he was eventually unable to attend. In an Instagram post shared today, Ibiere Agwu confirmed that her husband was indeed admitted to the hospital due to stress-related issues. The mother of two used the opportunity to thank fans, friends and colleagues for the outpouring of love and support. ''THANK YOU ALL!!! Man sentenced to 80 years jailterm is freed from prisonl after spending 21 years for crime he didn't commit

Darryl Howard, who was sentenced to 80 years in prison after a 1995 court trial was released from the Durham County Detention center in North Carolina on Wednesday after spending 21 years for a crime he didn't commit.  Howard was convicted of the 1991 strangling and sexual assault of 29-year-old Doris Washington and her 13-year-old daughter, Nishonda., but the judge yesterday threw out the double murder conviction and ordered Howard's immediate and unrestricted release from prison, saying there was no DNA evidence unavailable at Howard's 1995 trial.  According to the judge, new DNA evidence shows Howard did not rape the women, and no other physical evidence connected him to the crime as conviction was based heavily on testimony of witnesses at the Durham public housing project where killings occurred.  Superior Court Judge Orlando Hudson said on Wednesday  'I don't see any reason he can't be released today,'  DNA tests una
