Borno state Governor, Kashim Shettima, today October 1st granted 22 prison inmates amnesty during an unscheduled visit to the Maiduguri Maximum Security Prison in celebration of Nigeria's independence.  Governor Shettima said the amnesty granted to the prisoners followed the recommendation of the State Advisory Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy.  Addressing the prisoners, he said  "You are in prison today because it has been destined by the Almighty God. It does not mean the end of your lives. Even some holy prophets were in one time or the other imprisoned but they came out the better" he said  B efore leaving, he donated a 27 KVA power generating set to the prison and also announced approval for the release of N5million to the prison authorities to enable them carry out general renovation of decaying facilities.

Dubai Police have arrested a gang comprising five Nigerians (pictured above) who were involved in armed robbery at the Al Mustaqbal money exchange in Sheikh Rashid Bin Humaid Road in Ajman.  The gang managed to steal Dhs2,75,000 including various foreign currencies.  Deputy Ajman Police chief said that the incident took place last week when the gang members entered the exchange and attacked and assaulted its employees, threatening them with toy guns before emptying the premises of its cash and fleeing. The gang members entered the country on a visit visa, which expired long time ago.  He added that the police operations room received a call about the robbery at around 10.30 pm last Thursday.  However, the suspects managed to escape before the police arrived on the scene, as the employees failed to activate the alarm in order to alert the police. Jennifer Cramblett, 36, claims the mistake has caused her stress and anguish because her family is racist and she lives in a small, all-white Uniontown in northeast Ohio. In a lawsuit filed this week in Cook County, Illinois, Ms Cramblett says Midwest Sperm Bank sent her several vials of a black man's sperm by mistake because the clinic keeps paper records and accidentally transposed numbers on her order. The couple had specifically chosen a white donor to be the father of their child.  Midwest Sperm Bank charged $400 per vial of semen and Ms Cramblett and her partner received six vials of the wrong semen.  The lawsuit says the clinic later sent Ms Cramblett an apology note and a refund for the six vials - though charged her

15 year old Argentinian Julia Alvarez was left disfigured after two jealous girls slashed her face with knives because she was 'too pretty'. The two girls, who are sisters, have since been arrested. Julia later told police the girls said they wanted to make her look like horror movie character, Chucky. Julia said she was walking home in the town of Juan Domingo Peron, in the northern Argentinian province of Formosa, when the girls aged 18 and 16 attacked her without any provocation. "Everyone says you are pretty. You won't look pretty when we have finished with you. People will call you Chucky." - Julia claims this is what the girls told her before slashing her face... After the attack on her face and other parts of her body, the two sisters ran away and left her in the pool of her own blood. She was rushed to the hospital by passers-by. Boko Haram has carried out at least 9 attacks on the town of Konduga, Borno State since September 12th, 2014. This video footage shows the Boko Haram fatalities after one of the attacks. If you observe, many of the corpses look like those of kids, some of the Civilian JTF members (the guys with guns and RPG rounds walking around) also look like they are teens. Many Nigerians thought the era of the proliferation of the so called baby factories in Nigeria has been nipped in the bud but they have resurfaced as the Abia State Police Command has busted another of such factories and arrested two nurses and four pregnant inmates, among whom was one with a two year old baby, disclosing that they were rescued during a raid of a hospital allegedly used as baby factory. The state's Police Public Relations Officer, Geoffrey Ogbonna, while parading the suspects in the state capital, Umuahia, said though the Medical Director of the private hospital where the nefarious act was being perpetrated had bolted by the time the police got to the facility, the police was on his trail. The police spokesman say the fleeing doctor and the nurses were using the hospital as shelter for young women with unwanted pregnancy only to buy off the babies upon delivery and in turns sell them to willing buyers. Peter Okoye, one half of Pop duo Psquare, fell off stage while performing at the recently held Triple 9 Concert. Psquare were the final performers at the music concert which held at the Landmark Event Centre, on September 30, 2014. The Pop duo were performing 'Bring it on', a song off their new album 'Double Trouble' when Peter Okoye apparently stepped too close to the centre edge of the five-foot elevated stage and fell off. He tumbled and landed on the floor, hitting his back against the protective metal barricades used to shield fans from the stage. The singer was immediately helped back up by the stage bouncers. Okoye bounced back on stage and continued performing like nothing happened. He is however believed to have sustained a hand injury.
