A group, the Lower Niger Congress, LNC, has declared its opposition to nomination of Gen. Ike Nwachukwu (rtd) as the leader of delegates from the South East geo-political zone to the National Conference. South East governors, at their meeting in Enugu last week, had nominated the former military governor of old Imo State and a former foreign minister to be the leader of South East delegates to the confab being inaugurated today in Abuja.  But speaking in Aba, Abia State, over the weekend during a town hall meeting organised by LNC, its secretary general, Tony Nnadi, said his group was opposed to the retired general’snomination due to the ‘fact’ that during the Nigerian Civil War of 1967- 1970, Nwachukwu fought on the Nigerian side against the Igbo.  Nnadi said since the confab was an opportunity for the Ndigbo to ‘wriggle out of the enslavement’ they had found themselves since the amalgamation of Nigeria in 1914, it would be difficult to achieve that with a delegate led by so

A 28 year old Playboy model whose butt was used to hit a golf ball is now suing them .Elizabeth Dickson, 28, is suing Playboy Enterprises and radio host Kevin Klein for $500,000 plus punitive damages after he whacked her in the behind with a golf club while trying to hit a ball off a tee placed between the cheeks of her buttocks during an amateur golf tournament in California. Popular Nigerian pastor of the Latter Rain Assembly, Tunde Bakare, has declared that he will not partake of the N12m that the Goodluck Jonathan government is paying delegates to the 3-month National Conference in Abuja which commences on Monday. Pastor Bakare, representing Ogun at the conference, said he made the decision not to collect the money to be paid to delegates in order to dispel any negative speculation. He said Nigerians deserve sincere service: “A friend of mine called me this (Sunday) morning that he heard on the radio that ‘Pastor Bakare had accepted to go, that his own fee is N12m’. Pastor Bakare will not take a kobo in the National Conference. 

Ecobank Nigeria Plc worker, Babatunde Oke, who died in police custody in Lagos under controversial and questionable circumstance, has been buried. He was laid to rest in his hometown in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State last Saturday afternoon as the family vowed to unravel the cause of his death. Babatunde died after being detained at the Falomo Police Division over the missing of N1.2m. Ecobank had alleged that while he was the head teller at their Ladipo branch, Babatunde took the sum from the ATM. He was locked up, pending when he would pay back the money. While his relatives were reportedly making all arrangements for his bail, he was said to have ordered for a bottle of soft drink which led to his death.
