D ear Chimamanda, I planned to write you this letter privately through A mutual friend but he likes to shy away from controversy. So I thought to write it here on social media, hoping it gets to you and you read it objectively and maybe we can discuss it sometime in the future. In your @TEDx speech about Feminism, the part @Beyonce adapted, you described a feminist as a person who believes in the social, political and economic equality of the sexes. This definition/intention sits well with me as it doesn’t favor any gender. I have read almost every book you have written and to be honest, you are my favorite African writer. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Wants to Know Why Hillary Clinton's Twitter Bio Leads With 'Wife'

C himamanda Ngozi Adichie interviewed Hillary Clinton at a PEN World Voices Festival lecture at the Cooper Union in Manhattan on Sunday night, and she took the opportunity to confront the former Democratic presidential candidate with something that was bothering her. Why, with all of Clinton’s career accomplishments, did her Twitter bio primarily identify her as a “Wife”? “In your Twitter account , the first word that describes you is ‘Wife.’ And then I think it’s ‘Mom,’ and then it’s ‘Grandmother,’” Adichie said. “And when I saw that, I have to confess that I felt just a little bit upset. Dino Melaye Released From Detention

T he Senator representing Kogi State, Senator Dino Melaye has been released from detention. The Senator was released after he was detained by officials of the immigration service at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on his way to Morocco The officials allege that he was detained based on an order from Interpol. However, the police have denied any connection with the arrest of the senator.

N igerian Senator Dino Melaye has been arrested. The politician confirmed the arrest on Monday. He said on Monday that he was picked up at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. It was not immediately clear which agency carried out the arrest, but Mr Melaye was declared wanted for his alleged involvement in a murder case and provision of support for criminal elements in his home state of Kogi. “I have just been arrested at the international wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe airport on my way to Morocco for an official engagement sponsored by the Federal Govt after checking in,” he said on Twitter. The senator later told PREMIUM TIMES that he was blocked as he was undergoing security and immigration screening. He said he was told that the police had place him on its ‘no fly’ list and that he was therefore barred from travelling at the airport. Mr. Melaye said he “snatched back” his passport from the official who confiscated it and made to proceed
