Popular Abuja-based multi-millionaire businessman Dumebi Kachikwu, who used to be married to former Aviation minister Kema Chikwe's daughter, Somachi Chikwe, is being held by the EFCC over alleged N750million scam. A former son-in-law to ex- aviation minister, Kema Chikwe, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a case of obtaining by false pretence. Dumebi Kachikwu, an Abuja-based multi-millionaire was arrested on the evening of Friday, January 9th when he turned himself over to EFCC custody. EFCC operatives had previously raided his No 27 Gana Street, Maitama, Abuja home in the early hours of same day and executed a search warrant of the property.  On December 23, 2004 the EFCC had invited Kachikwu for questioning following a petition from Ndudi Elumelu, Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Health, who until recently was governorship aspirant in Delta State.

No fewer than twenty persons, including a female suicide bomber, have been confirmed dead killed in a major market in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, after a suicide bomber hit the area on Saturday. Over 18 persons were seriously injured in the latest attack according to the Public Relations Officer of the Borno State Police Command, Gideon Jubrin. The police boss said, the incident occurred at about 12.30pm at a section of theMonday market. In a statement, the police spokesman said, “20 persons were killed in the attack, including the female suicide bomber, with 18 others injured at the market.” Also confirming the incident, the spokesman for National Emergency Management Authority, AbdulKadir Ibrahim, said workers from the agency were at the market to render assistance, but declined to give the casualty figure. INEC chairman, Prof Attahiru Jega has according to sources fallen ill. This is according to Blogger, linda Ikeji , her friends have been telling me about her and wants her death mentioned, so here goes! Beautiful Amara Anosike, who allegedly used to date Sen. Hope Uzodinma, who got married last weekend (see  here ), died this week ... "Amara used to date Sen. Hope Uzodinma. After hearing the news that he married one of her best friends, Amara fell ill and just died a few days ago. She was vomiting blood on the day she died. She was buried yesterday" A friend said Too sad. Such a beautiful woman. May her soul rest in peace...Amen. All these young people dying this way...

An Ethiopian airline cargo aircraft traveling from Lome, Togo to Accra Ghana this morning skidded off the runway as it arrived the Kotoka Airport in Ghana. According to a press statement by Ghanaian aviation authorities, the three crew members survived the crash and are currently receiving treatment at the 37 military hospital. The reason for the accident has not been stated but eye-witnesses said bad weather could be a contributing factor. More photos below
