The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has asked the All Progressives Congress, APC, to stop dodging issues but make haste to provide answers to burning national issues that border on the government’s lack of transparency, abuse of power, dwindling economy, escalating insecurity and apparent failure of governance since it assumed power at the center. President Buhari has appealed to APC members in the House of Representatives to put aside their differences and resolve their issues before tomorrow's plenary session. Speaking at a meeting which he convened earlier today, President Buhari insisted the party members in the lower chamber must respect the decision of the party regarding appointment of principal leaders in the house. A source at the meeting which lasted for just 20 minutes, told Premium Times that President Buhari asked the members to maintain party discipline and follow their party's directive. "He said he never wanted to interfere in the affairs of the Legislature, but he’s now forced to do so to maintain party discipline. A minister in GEJ's govt stole $6billion - Gov. Oshiomole alleges

Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomole has alleged that a minister that served in former president Jonathan's administration stole a whooping $6billion. Governor Oshiomole made the allegation while speaking to state house correspondents after a meeting with President Buhari today. He said American officials made the alleged fraud known to the Buhari led delegation during the state visit to the US last week. "PDP destroyed the country. Police officer allegedly shoots roadside Mechanic in Kogi (Photos)

A police officer from the Okene division in Kogi state allegedly shot a man on his way to his motor mechanics workshop in the early hours of  today Monday July 27th. According to eye-witnesses, the victim was on his way to work when the  policeman called him but he refused to stop. The policeman allegedly then fired three shots at him, hitting in the leg and other parts. The police officer later said the mechanic had attempted to take his rifle from him but witnesses said this wasn't true as the man was a little far from the police when he was shot.  The victim (pictured above) is reportedly in critical condition at the Specialist Hospital in Lokoja. Baby disappears during naming ceremony in Ogun state

An eight month old baby identified as Hezekiah Opeyemi Ogundele mysteriously disappeared during a naming ceremony held at Inuosegba community in Abeokuta Ogun state yesterday July 26th. According to  The Nation , Hezekiah's brother had taken the baby to the naming ceremony and within minutes, the toddler disappeared. A search party was immediately formed but they were unable to find the baby. What they found instead was a building close to the venue of the ceremony where items suspected to be severed human wrist, school pupils’ bags and uniforms were found. But for the timely intervention of the operatives the Special Anti – Robbery Squad (SARS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the enraged crowd were bent on bringing down the building. The little boy has still not been found.

The police at Agbado Crossing Police Station, Ayila in Ogun State, southwest Nigeria, On Sunday engaged a five-man robbery gang in a gun battle during which two of the robbers were shot dead. The robbers had stormed Dalemo community, a suburb of Ogun State, at about 3:30 a.m. before the police engaged them in a gun fight. P.M.NEWS gathered from a reliable source that the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Agbado Police Station, Mr. Shittu, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) received a distress call that robbers were terrorising residents of Dalemo and he immediately dispatched a team of policemen to the area. On seeing the police, the robbers opened fire on them and the police responded and in the ensuing shootout two of the robbers were shot dead while the rest fled with bullet wounds, said the source. A good samaritan in Sango area of Ogun State has reportedly lost his manhood after he gave money to a man who begged for some financial assistance. According to the reports which have now become viral, the man who is a landlord with a house on Liberty road, Igbala area, Sango Ota, was approached by a young man on the street for money to enable him get drugs for his mother. The landlord allegedly gave the beggar the sum of N700, which turned out to be a huge mistake because immediately he handed over the money, his manhood suddenly disappeared. Federal government reduces oil imports as production begins in Warri, Kaduna refineries

The Federal Government has expressed readiness to scale down the importation of refined petroleum products following the anticipated bridging of demand gap in local consumption with the commencement of production in Warri refinery and the Kaduna facility due to follow shortly. The Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele dropped this hint during a briefing at the bank’s headquarters shortly after the July Monetary Policy Meeting in Abuja on Friday. He noted that the resuscitation of the two refineries followed series of meetings between the apex bank, the management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and the Federal Government. The central bank governor maintained that the combined capacities of the two firms would likely reduce the estimated 30 million litres of refined products currently being imported into the country. There has been so much talk about how much was spent on advertising before the last general election in Nigeria but no one could say for sure how much was spent. But a report by Compliance and Content Monitoring Ltd (CCM) reveals that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Party (APC) spent a combined N3.23 billion on political campaign advertisements for this year’s general elections, according to a report at the weekend. According to the report PDP spent for about N2.5 billion (77 per cent) and APC spent N728 million (23 per cent). CCM said the media advertisements were placed on radio, television, press and billboards for the PDP and the APC presidential campaigns between December 2014 and March. The report was unveiled after a thorough analysis of over 260 broadcast media (radio and television), 48 print (newspapers and magazines) media and over 1,000 outdoor billboards across the country. Lagos Airport Police Arrest Passenger Smoking Aboard Arik Air Flight

The Lagos Airport Police Command has arrested a Nigerian passenger, Lawal Oluwabusola, for smoking cigarette in an Arik Air flight on London to Lagos route. In a statement on Sunday by Mr Livinus Chukwuma, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Airport Command in Lagos, said that Olubusola was arrested on Sunday upon landing in Nigeria. He was apprehended at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos. The PPRO said the suspect’s action was not in consonant with the in-flight safety procedures. “The suspect was smoking electronic cigarette in the lavatory which triggered off emergency alarm system in the aircraft causing confusion among passengers,” he said.
