Yesterday serious allegations were posed against the new member of President Muhammadu Buhari’s team, Williams Babatunde Fowler, who was has been appointed head of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). The  detailed investigation suggested that Fowler’s Honorary Doctorate Degree of the Irish International University , which was proudly announced by the presidency, is of no value as it was issued by a fraudulent, non-existing university. More questions were raised even regarding Fowler’s bachelor’s degree. The report caused outrage among Nigerians who wondered how a man of, so-to-say, insufficient qualification can manage affairs in the FIRS. As part of the continued offensive operations against the Boko Haram terrorists, troops of 7 Brigade have today entered and cleared Gudumbali town, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State. During the operation, quite a number of the terrorists were killed their weapons and equipment were destroyed. The troops are currently doing clearance operations in the general area. It should be recalled that the Nigerian Air Force has inflicted heavy damage on the terrorists camps within the general area last Monday. In a related development, troops of 5 Brigade Explosive Ordinance Devices (EOD) Unit while advancing towards Dikwa, ran into landmines buried by the terrorists. The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon E. Arase,  has called on members of the public including medical personnel to attend to accident victims and persons with gunshot wounds without any police report when the need arises. In a statement released today August 21st, Arase said the police can be informed afterwards for necessary action after the injured have been given proper attention. Pastor Mathew Asuquo, a resident of Ajegunle community in Lagos state has petitioned the Lagos state police command over the repeated attack on his family by one of his neighbors named Jane Osasa. Pastor Asuquo in his petition alleged that Jane had repeatedly attacked his family and nothing had been done to get her arrested even when he reported the case to the Ajeromi police station. I read with amazement the story on page 16 of The PUNCH, August 19, 2015, on how no fewer than 2,000 commercial s*x workers in Awka, the Anambra State capital, have concluded plans to commence their strike action against the state government. It means prostitution is legalised in that state. Their leader was even reported to pointing accusing finger at the government officials as their best customers who throw money at them; “They want me to expose them?”. Awka with only about 301, 000 population in 2006 has over 2,000 prostitutes in one group. This is more than the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible. Joseph Wanjau, the Founder of Hope Foundation, was arrested by police crack squad on Thursday, 20 August at the ABC Place in Nairobi, Kenya. Mr Wanjau initiated a funds drive on social media to raise the money by posing with Fidelis Muthoni who is suffering from a life-threatening frontal bone defect known as Frontal Encephalocele. According to Nation FM, the baby had been booked for surgery in Canada but the family lacked funds. Her family said a team of doctors from Canada had offered to treat her for free if they paid for her flight and six-month stay. It was then Mr Wanjau, a close relative of the family, volunteered to conduct the funds drive, but the money was withdrawn without their knowledge and the ailing baby was never treated. World Football governing body, FIFA has appointed the president of the Nigerian Football Federation NFF, Amaju Pinnick as a member of the FIFA U-20 World Cup Organizing Committee. In a letter dated 14th August 2015 and signed by FIFA Secretary General, Jerome Valcke, the world body wrote “We are very pleased to inform you that you have been appointed as a member of the Organizing Committee for the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Few weeks ago, the media was awash with news of a pipeline explosion at Arepo, Ogun state, where scores of vandals were reportedly burnt to death. The cause of the explosion which started the fire that was put out next day by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC was attributed to a scuffle between groups of vandals over ownership of a particular section of the NNPC owned pipeline, during which a shot fired by a member of the rival faction, hit the pipeline. That incident was not the first of its kind in recent times at Arepo. Infact, that area has become a haven for criminal activities by vandals who seem to have thrown caution to the wind as they vandalise pipelines and siphon petroleum products, without fear of molestation by security agents. ISIS  are getting rid of militants who contracted HIV from captured sex slaves,by forcing them to become suicide bombers. The screams of three children, their mother and her lover, who were engulfed by fire on Sunday, August 16 woke up residents of Ajumose, Ogbein area of Ede in Osun State . It was gathered that the victims were set ablaze by a man, who allegedly felt scorned that his lover was also dating another man. The five victims were said to be the suspect’s rival, Munirudeen Lawal; the lover, Hadijat Adegoke, and her three children. Lawal and Adegoke were said to have been rushed to the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, as a result of the burns they suffered. Sources at the hospital told our correspondent on Thursday that Lawal died on Tuesday while Hadijat died on Wednesday. Our correspondent gathered that Adegoke, 35, had recently moved to her own house, which had yet to be completed. The woman, along with her four children ─ Fawas (13), Ishwat (12), Sodiq (8), and Fathia (6), were said to be the residents in the two-bedroomed apartment.

A team of students in the University of Lagos built an eco-friendly car. They say the car doesn't emit gas doesn't utilize fossil fuel. They built the car under the Project Dove Initiative and have successfully completed their first model, Dove P1, utilizing locally sourced materials and building it right here in the university of Lagos. A teenage boy met a brutal death after four students hacked him with a machete and buried him alive.Two attackers then had sex near his shallow grave, police said. The group plotted the gruesome murder of Jose Amaya Guardado for two weeks, digging the grave and hiding the machete in woods near their Florida university campus. Kaheem Arbelo, 20, Jonathan Lucas, 18, and Christian Colon, 19, were arrested and confessed to the crime last week, Miami-Dade police said. The students are believed to have lured Guardado to woods near the Homestead Job Corps campus, where all five lived around 35 miles south of Miami. Arbelo, Lucas and Colon then allegedly ambushed Guardado and Arbelo struck him repeatedly with the machete.
