Oba of Lagos threatens to expose those who worked against Buhari during elections

Image
Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, has threatened to expose people who he says worked against Buhari during the 2015 election. He said this at an occasion to mark the 2, 900 days of Fashola as governor of Lagos state “A lot of things have been happening now. Some people have been telling Buhari all sorts of things. Awujale and I have decided to meet Buhari because Lagos and South West states must benefit from the Buhari administration. People, who are now telling Buhari all sorts of things, are sycophants. They did not want Buhari to emerge winner in the election. These people know themselves. When it gets to a stage, I will name them one after the other. I am not afraid of human beings."  he said.

BREAKING NEWS: Britain's Election 2015: Exit poll puts Tories close to majority

Image
An  election exit poll  is a poll of voters taken immediately after they have exited the polling stations. Unlike an  opinion poll , which asks whom the voter plans to vote for or some similar formulation, an exit poll asks whom the voter actually voted for. The Conservatives are set to be the largest party in the Commons but just short of a majority, according to the general election exit poll. The survey taken at polling stations across the UK suggests the Tories will get 316 MPs to Labour's 239 when all the results have been counted. It suggests the Lib Dems will get 10 MPs, the SNP 58, Plaid Cymru 4, UKIP 2 and the Greens two. The exit poll was conducted by NOP/MORI for the BBC, ITV and Sky. The first election results are due before midnight with the final result on Friday afternoon. The finishing line needed to form a majority is 326. If the exit poll is accurate, as it was in 2010, David Cameron could be on course to rem...

Obama to send high-powered delegation to Buhari’s inauguration

Image
International interest in Nigeria’s political transition and the planned transfer of power from the Jonathan-Sambo presidency to the Buhari-Osinbajo presidency billed for May 29 has risen in the United States as President Barack Obama now considers sending a high-powered U.S. delegation to the event, officials said Wednesday. U.S. government sources said Mr. Obama is considering who might lead the American representatives to the event. Besides, at least two US Ivy universities-Harvard and Yale – have since held special review sessions where scholars were invited from around the U.S. and the world to give lectures and seminars on the outcome of the Nigerian elections, focusing on the emergence of a former military head of state, who is a Muslim from the North of Nigeria, and a Christian pastor, who is a law professor from the South as president-elect and vice president-elect respectively. Three names are already being mentioned in official U.S. and dip...

US training of Syrian rebels to fight Islamic State group begins in Jordan:

Image
(AP) — After months of delays and vetting, the training of moderate Syrian rebels has started in Jordan as part of a broader effort to build a force capable of fighting Islamic State extremists, U.S. and Jordanian officials said Thursday. Defense Secretary Ash Carter acknowledged, however, that the administration has yet to decide exactly how and when the U.S. would support or go to the rescue of Syrian rebel troops if they are attacked by forces under the control of President Bashar Assad. Carter said the U.S. is training the rebel troops to fight against Islamic State militants, and will support the reb els in that effort with surveillance or airstrikes. But he said that while the U.S. bears some general responsibility to protect the rebels, there have been no decisions yet on what the U.S. would be willing to do if the trained rebels return to Syria and get into a battle with regime troops. Calling the training program a critical and complex part of the campaign to de...

PDP Crisis: Mu’azu, Fayose fights on Twitter

Image
The chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Adamu Mu’azu, on Thursday, traded barbs with the governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, on Twitter. Mr. Fayose had earlier called for Mr. Mu’azu’s resignation, blaming him for the party’s defeat at the recent national polls. The PDP has been hit by internal crisis since losing the presidential election, and several governorship seats, the party’s biggest defeat ever. Mr. Fayose had said Wednesday he had evidence proving that the PDP chairman sabotaged the party by working for the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC. Mr. Mu’azu responded via Twitter on Thursday, challenging the Ekiti governor to substantiate his claims. “Fayose: I have evidence that Mu’azu worked for APC. We hope it’s not the kind of evidence he once said he had that Buhari was dying?” Mr. Mu’azu said. “You will all recall that the National Chairman warned members of our Presidential Campaign Org to stop the hate campaign. “The National ...

Abia State election petition tribunal for the National and State Houses of Assembly has granted former governor of the state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, leave to inspect documents used for Abia North senatorial election. The tribunal, which commenced sitting yesterday, also granted the former governor’s application to serve the first respondent in the petition, Chief Mao Ohuabunwa, by substituted means. The UK government earlier this year repatriated three Nigerians in UK prisons under the prisoners exchange agreement signed by the UK and Nigeria. The prisoners are now serving time in a Nigerian prison. This was made known today by Nigeria's Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, during a Q&A with journalists in Abuja. "The prisoners exchange agreement is in place and the United Kingdom has repatriated three Nigerians in the UK prison since January this year and  more prisons would also be transferred. The programme would continue after the exit of this administration, there is a committee in place to ensure the sustenance of the programme,” he explained. (Punch)

PHOTO: “HIV Positive People To Be Marked Near Their Genitals” Jacob Zuma passes the law!!

Image
President Zuma signed a bill that seems to be one of the greatest steps in the history of trying to combat HIV. From now on, every person who gets tested and is found to be HIV positive will not just get counselling and medication. They will also get a mark in form of a tattoo near their genitals according to the bill signed by the president. The mark is to protect those who can’t say no to sex. I mean if you can’t read between the lines you should read between the legs because that’s where the status would be tatted. The choice to be HIV positive is now in your hands or your genitals for that matter…. We also encourage those who had been living with the virus to go to the nearest public hospitals to get their status tatted in President Zuma volunteered to be the first South African citizen to get his status tatted near his genitals and he also announced that the first 10 million people(who already tested positive) to volunteer to have their HIV statuse...

Kanye West snubbed wife Kim on the Met Gala red carpet?

Image
I saw the photos and they looked happy but some keen observers say they detected friction between Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian on the 2015 Met Gala red carpet. According to tell  OK  magazine "At one point, when Kim reached for Kanye’s hand, he moved away to pose for photos! He also briefly left her on the red carpet to talk to another attendee while Kim continued to pose for the numerous photographers. As the couple headed inside, Kanye didn’t look like he wanted to pose with his wife, and photographers had to literally scream and beg him to turn back towards the cameras and face in the same direction as his curvy wife." Go  here  to watch a clip of Kanye supposedly giving Kim the cold shoulder. I didn't see it though...
